Quick Overview

Why does BRS recommend this?

Being able to monitor and maintain your RODI system is almost a necessity to know when your filters need service and if a problem does arise, having a pressure gauge and TDS meter makes trouble shooting much easier. The TDS meter will let you know when your DI resin is fully exhausted so you are not relying on color change alone anymore.

The BRS Universal to Value Plus Upgrade Kit, will allow you to add the accessories to upgrade the BRS 6 stage Universal RODI system (and most other RODI systems) to a BRS 6 Stage Universal Plus RODI system.  The upgrade kit will hook up to most standard RODI systems as well.

Kit Contains:

  • Triple Inline TDS Meter TRM-1 - HM Digital

  • Glycerin Filled Pressure Gauge 1-100 PSI

  • 550 mL Flow Membrane Flush Valve

Full Details

Glycerin Filled Pressure Gauge 1-100 PSI

Sufficient PSI is very important for the correct operation of a reverse osmosis unit. Low water pressure is a leading cause of poor RO system performance. A pressure gauge assures that proper pressure is being supplied. It will also make pressure drops apparent which can tell you that sediment and carbon blocks need to be changed.

Glycerin filled pressure gauges absorb vibration and pressure spikes increasing service life. This glycerin filled pressure gauge comes assembled with 1/4" quick connect fittings for quick easy installation in-line before the RO Membrane. This item is designed for use with our saltwater aquarium line of RO systems.

Triple Inline TDS Meter TRM-1 - HM Digital

The TRM-1 Triple Inline TDS Meter from HM Digital is one of the most essential reverse osmosis accessories. This tool uses electrode probes to monitor the TDS of your reverse osmosis system in three places and lets you know exactly how the system is performing. suggests installing the triple TDS meter post source water, post membrane and post DI stage. These three readings will notify you when it's time to change the RO membrane and DI resin. This unit features a digital display and comes with three 1/4" Quick Connect Tee's. As with all HM-Digital products, the TRM-1 comes factory calibrated.

550 mL Flow Membrane Flush Valve

Reverse Osmosis membrane flush/flow restrictor valves increase the flow to the membrane by bypassing the flow restrictor when the valve is opened. This helps flush deposits and significantly increases the usable life of the RO membrane. The Membrane Flush/Flow restrictor valve is an all in one flow restrictor equipped with a flush valve for easy worry free use. Keeping the flush and flow restrictor in a single package keeps fitting count down which means less chance for possible leaks or failures down the line. recommends flushing the membrane before and after each use for a few seconds, or every few weeks for a few minutes as part of regular reverse osmosis system maintenance. When the handle on the valve is “in line” the valve is bypassing the flow restrictor and is in “flush mode,” if the handle is perpendicular to the valve then the unit is ready for normal use.

  • Works well, easily installed on my non brs unit By Brian K on 4/21/2017

I have a Frankenstein of an RO unit from before the days on the Aquarium hobby was building hobby specific units. Its all GE under-sink parts that always seemed to work but I never had a real gauge until I installed this setup on it. Thanks for putting it all together in one package. I was able to install it easy and could see real results.
  • Easliy installed on my non-BRS unit By Chris on 6/23/2016

While this is designed and sold as and upgrade to BRS RODI unit it was really easy to install on my non-BRS RO unit. The TDS monitor was a little off from my handheld unit especially at the low end output of the RO unit (<10 ppm). It comes calibrated. You can calibrate it but its a single calibration for all three probes. The calibration directions say to use special solution. I basically cross checked my tap water against the handheld TDS monitor I had and made a small adjustment. Who's to say my handheld is correct but I trust that one so I made the adjustment.
  • Works as advertised By joereef on 3/7/2016

Simple. Works as advertised and is easy to install.

Is there any instruction on how to hook up the tds meter and preasure gage

Great question! Although one of our older videos, the link below describes where the best place to install those items. It's as simple as cutting the tubing and push connecting the probe or gauge in between the cut. :-)
