Product Questions

What all do I need to order with this kit to hook up drinking water at my sink. Do I need extra pressure gagues or tds meters. I want the best system.
Question by: Zach on Mar 2, 2016 10:15:00 AM
Great question!
This kit will come with every item for the ultimate drinking water set up including installation. We cannot sell TDS meter, or Pressure gauges as they are not NSF certified. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Mar 2, 2016 5:09:00 PM
why doesn't the drinking water system come with a membrane flush kit like the 6 stage universal plus does? I have the 6 stage universal plus for my reeftank but I am looking to buy a drinking water system for under our kitchen sink and noticed it doesn't have the flush kit. wouldn't the flush kit on the drinking water system extend the life of the RO membrane?
Question by: Calvin on Mar 29, 2016 10:19:00 AM
Great question!
The flush kit will ideally be used before and after each use of the unit. Since Drinking water units are typically always on the flush kit would be one additional step for the owner to flush and forget to turn back off and causes a bit of a head ache. While it does improve the life of the membrane drinking water systems typically are for ease of use and operation. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Is this system the same as the BRS 4 Stage RO Only System - 75GPD with the BRS Add-On Faucet Kit added to it (and $10 cheaper)?
Question by: Steve R on Jan 26, 2016 10:34:00 PM
Great question!
it is the same as the individual components however sold at a kit price. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

What size hole is required to be drilled through the sink to install the faucet?
Question by: Kevin on Jul 4, 2015 11:07:00 AM
Great Question,
The Air Gap Faucet requires a 7/8” hole in your counter top or sink bowl. If your sink has a sprayer it is possible that you may be able to remove it and mount the faucet in the same hole. If you need to drill a hole make sure to check for any obstructions underneath the sink and to use the proper tools for the material you are drilling. You will need enough room under the faucet to connect the waste water lines as well as the drinking water line. Consult the instructions for the Air Gap Faucet on the faucet box for specific instructions about installing the faucet and connecting the product water (blue line).

What size tubing/valves does this system use? Thanks.
Question by: Kevin on Jul 6, 2015 8:38:00 PM
Great Question Kevin,
All of our RO/DI systems will use 1/4" tubing and connections.

Im Looking to purchase one of your ro drinking water systems also for use on my reef tank. My Question is would it be possible to add on a water saver upgrade to double the production and eliminate some of the volume of waste water.
Question by: Derrick Moller on Apr 16, 2016 12:38:00 PM
Great question!
When used in conjunction with the drinking water storage tank the 150 gpd upgrade kit will not fully perform the waste water will be pressured back to performing as a standard unit would with the added negative of the 150 GPD producing slightly less quality water. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Apr 20, 2016 12:36:00 PM
I want to use the 5 stage RO system to supply water to my mill. I need about 5 GPD. Is it possible to put a solenoid valve on the inlet and have it piped directly into my coolant tank? Then I can set the unit on a timer and have it run for a few minutes every hour that the machine is running. Is this feasible? Thanks
Question by: James Holbrook on Jun 20, 2016 5:15:00 PM
Great question!
You can certainly put a solenoid on the input (or product water with the auto shut off valve on our units) This will definitely work well with regular use. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Is the Aquatec Permeate Pump ERP 1000 compatible with the BRS 5 Stage Drinking Water RO System without any additional parts? If so, where exactly in the system does the ERP 1000 get installed? Does the pump reduce any of the noise produced by the air gap faucet?

Question by: Eric Gilson on May 31, 2016 7:46:00 AM
Greta question!
Permeate pumps will work well with our units. For easiest install you will run the source water (Red tube) in through the permeate in and out running to the membrane and the Black tube Waste water through the brine in and brine out port. We are not aware of the pump reducing any noise from an air gap faucet unfortunately.

We have chloramines in our water. Can I add the filter from the BRS 6 stage universal chlorine and chloramines to the BRS 5 Stage Drinking Water RO System - 75GPD to get rid of them?

  • Great Product By Max S. on 5/10/2017

Ordered the kit, it showed up a few days later and I installed it a few days later. it took me a few hours to install it. I would recommend adding Teflon tape to the screw on fitting on top of the pressure tank. that is the only place I had a leak. . our TDS meter from our zero water filter shows ours tap water to be about 400, after the water flows through this system we see between 16 and 24 on the TDS meter. the water is tasteless now. we are happy customers.
  • Watch for leaks By RichD on 3/12/2017

I was impressed the system was pretty much ready to install with extra fittings and long tubing pre-attached. Still needed a couple of adapters for my specific case but found them at the local hardware store. This is the third RO system I have installed but first from BRS.

System was packaged nicely and seems solid built. Even filters were pre-installed. Install process was quick, ,but chasing down the leaks was not. The system leaked between the filter housings where they are factory connected with close nipples. Took a couple attempts of cleaning off the old tape and putting on new before they sealed up correctly. Don't know if BRS can use a better nipple that will seat more firmly. I had to bottom them out to get them to seal.

One system I installed had 3/8" tubing instead of 1/4". It was nice because it seemed to allow for faster fill of a glass and I didn't have as much of an issue converting from standard 3/8" household plumbing to the 1/4" RO tubing. That said, the 1/4" works fine and most fittings are included.
  • Works great. By Dan on 2/17/2017

    Works great. Easy to install.
  • Outstanding product By SomeOldGuy on 12/22/2016

This is the third RO system I have owned but the first I installed myself. Mind you the first RO system was purchased and installed 25 years ago and updated 10 years ago but technology has definitely moved on.

The ease of changing cartridges is so simple thanks to the addition of a handle. The other system I dealt with were a real pain due to hand tightening and loosing. The later being the worst.

The flow from this faucet is at least four times faster, refilling the storage tank is also at least four times faster as well.

When I think about the prices I paid for the first system and the update I am shocked. This system was by far the least expensive and works better. Amazing!

The only issue I had is that my installation was not in a steel sink but a composite. The thickness of the sink made even a 1" hole too small to get the waste lines since connection barbs were still inside the sink.

I am extremely pleased with this system.
  • Pleasantly surprised... By franksreefs on 8/24/2016

This is my first purchase of an RO system. I purchased it for drinking water at this time with the intent to use it for a reef tank in the near future (I'll have to purchase the DI cartridge then). Set-up was a breeze and the unit works great!
