Quick Overview

Using RO/DI water is essential to maintaining a healthy aquarium. City and well water are inherently full of contaminants that have an undesirable effect on the aquarium. An RO/DI system will provide the pure water necessary for the long term success of your tank.

Benefits of using RO/DI water include:
  • Contaminant free water
  • A healthier reef
  • Algae outbreak defense
  • Faster easier water changes
  • Zero trips to the store for water
  • See below for 5 Stage Plus features

Product Description

All BulkReefSupply.com Reverse Osmosis units exclusively feature American made DOW, MATRIKX and Purtrex filters. We also use American made MUR-LOK dual EPDM O-ring fittings whenever possible on all of our reverse osmosis units. These NSF certified fittings and filters cost us more than inexpensive imports, but set our units apart from the competition.

The BulkReefSupply.com 5 Stage Standard RO/DI unit includes all the essential features necessary to start making pure RO/DI water and provides an excellent foundation for future upgrades. This system includes everything needed to make RO/DI water out of the box. See the details below and the quick compare table to compare to our other standard reverse osmosis units.

Questions on 75 GPD RO/DI 5 Stage *PLUS* System

Sort by Descending
  • From Chris at 3/20/12 3:39 PM
    • What is the gallon ratio on this unit. Waste water compared to di water
    • Typically the ratio of waste water to good water will be between 3:1 and 5:1 assuming you have proper water pressure and temp. Most of our customers get closer to the 3:1 unless they do something that increases back pressure, like a pressurized storage tank for drinking water (its worth nothing that this is specifically a pressurized tank and wouldn't apply to something like a barrel or open storage container).

Ways to decrease waste water depend a lot on what exactly you have setup, but for most applications the 150gpd water saving upgrade kit will decrease waste water by as much as half.

If used with a pressurized storage tank then a permeate pump would help:

  • From David at 4/10/12 2:55 PM
    • Hi, what's the lowest pressure I can have on my 5 stage plus ro/di system work operate? What can I do if I do not have that much pressure?
    • Hey David,
The membranes are rated at 50psi. Below that they will work with diminished performance and increased waste water down to around 30-ish psi, but below that it generally wont work at all. If your pressure is low, you can raise it up via a booster pump. You can find the kit right here:

    • Do you find this question helpful?  Yes  No
  • From Johnn at 4/17/12 8:47 PM
    • what size is the tubing that comes with this?
    • Hey John,
The BRS RO/DI units all use 1/4" tubing.

  • From Michael at 5/1/12 11:41 AM
    • Does this unit come with a float valve for use with the auto shut-off?
    • Hey Michael,
The 5 stage plus does have an auto shut off valve and check valve pre-installed, but you would still want to pick up just the float valve.
