The recirculating units will perform better but require more space and a feed pump.
Which skimmer should you buy ? A quality protein skimmer is the most essential piece of equipment on your tank if you want to achieve “long term” success. Manufacturers give suggested tank sizes but these are just a general guideline. Rule of thumb is never go lower than their suggestions and bigger is always better.
