Quick Overview

Designed to be easy to use, setup and maintain the BRS fluidized reactor is perfect for utilizing GFO and Carbon in the aquarium. Our reactors are not only easy to use, but they do away with annoying thumbs screws and the leaky lids common with other reactors. We recommend a MJ 1200 pump to operate this reactor. Depending on mounting height and amount of media used you may choose to use a different pump.

  • From Jon at 6/22/10 3:46 PM
    • If I'm running carbon and GFO, should I use two of these or a dual reactor for my 100 gallon aquarium?
    • It depends on what you want from the reactor. If you want to spend less and need it to take up as little space as possible, you might consider the dual. If you desire low maintenance, running two reactors separately will deliver optimal performance, as the carbon chamber can get clogged with debris from your aquarium and cause the GFO to stop tumbling, leading to clumping if you do not adjust the flow.

    • I have a 30g nano and I was wondering if I can put carbon and gfo in the single reactor?
    • Yes you can. The reactor will come with a middle filter pad that can be used to separate the two. When filling the reactor, put the carbon in first and then use the middle pad to snug the carbon up, then add the gfo. Its important that the carbon not tumble as carbon is very soft and if it tumbled it will turn into dust.

    • Can I manifold this off of my return pump?
    • You can, but many find that it can be difficult to tune if you do so. As conditions may cause the flow rate of the pump to change it will also effect the flow rate through the reactor. This may make it difficult to keep the GFO tumbling at the appropriate level.

    • How long is the tubing that is provided with the Reactor?
    • The reactors come with a 3 ft section of tubing.

  • From Guy at 7/29/10 1:37 PM
    • I have a RSM130D tank. I would like to run the BRS reactor under the cabinet, hooked to the tank using the accessory kit for external filter/chiller. How should the BRS reactor be setup to avoid spilling water when removing the cartridge to change the media ? That is really my only concern !

      Tks for your help....Guy
    • The biggest thing would be to make sure that it is mounted in a completely vertical position. Its unlikely you will be able to pull it off without dripping any water at all, but if your good at it and have it mounted to something solid so its easy to twist, you can get it off with only a few drips :-)
