Quick Overview

Designed to be easy to use, setup and maintain the BRS fluidized reactor is perfect for utilizing GFO and Carbon in the aquarium. Our reactors are not only easy to use, but they do away with annoying thumbs screws and the leaky lids common with other reactors. We recommend a MJ 1200 pump to operate this reactor. Depending on mounting height and amount of media used you may choose to use a different pump.

  • From Jon at 6/22/10 3:34 PM
    • Will I see a noticeable difference if I use this as opposed to a filter sock?
    • Yes. With a fluidized bed media reactor, you will get much better contact time for your GFO and carbon. Allowing the GFO to tumble greatly reduces the risk of it all turning into one big clumped rock.

  • From Andrew at 6/22/10 3:35 PM
    • How do I change the media for this reactor?
    • All you need to do is shut off the ball valve and then unscrew the canisters with a canister wrench. There is a cartridge in each canister in which you can place the media. To open these, just unscrew the top with your hand. Rinse the cartridge out (it doesn't matter if you use tap water) and put the media in and you're all set. You will want to tighten the canisters as much as you can with the wrench when you reassemble the reactor.

    • IS there a difference between running phosban and your GFO? I understand one is aluminum oxide and yours is iron oxide.
      Thanks Mike
    • Main difference is their pricing structure is designed for distribution networks and sales at a local fish store. Our pricing structure is designed around us finding our own customers and offering the savings on distribution to the customer. I would be shocked if you notice any difference other than the savings. In fact I would be really surprised if we were not getting it from the same supplier.

To the best of my knowledge they are using an iron oxide product as well. The aluminum products are usually white in color.

    • could i put the gfo in in both canisters for a 155gal or would i need to singles?
    • Physically it can be done but most people have problems getting the flow down right. It would be hard to get the perfect amount of gfo in each canister so that they both tumble correctly. Usually one tumbles and the other doesn't tumble at all, or one tumbles and the other is getting way to much flow. Would be better to go with either two singles or one jumbo reactor.
