I've used this as well as the BRS Premium ROX 0.8.

They are both great products. However, in a canister filter I did not see sufficient difference between this and the ROX 0.8 to justify the price differential.

If cost is not an issue, then its a no-brainer: buy the ROX

Good media, good price buying the 1 gal container. Easy maintenance. Cleans easily: dump the old carbon & remove sponge, then simply dunk the cartridge once into water. I've found it's easiest to clean the sponge by flicking an edge of it with a finger, large particles just jump out/off the sponge - best done in a 5 gal bucket to avoid lignite getting scattered across the room!

Rinse well before use, but it works really well. I see a noticeable difference in my water clarity after using it for a day or so. I've used it in both a BRS reactor and a filter bag.

Just switched to this carbon and the difference is amazing. It quickly washes out the dust and is easy to put into the BRS media reactor. Definitely will buy again!

I just started using this carbon (large) particle on my 120g reef. Im using a small canister with a small rio pump to push the water through it very slowly as long contact time is what you want with carbon. It is keeping my tank crystal clear. It is easy to rinse and I change it out every 2 weeks.

Like any material the duration is based on concentration of compounds you want to remove in contrast to the volume of media. I find this grade to be a good balance in performance to value/cost.

I have used BRS carbon for a long time. I normally used small particle, but decided to try the large this time. much better in my opinion. It contains a lot less dust and risnses clean a lot easier. and the larger particles dont try to work their way through the foam pad in my TLF reactor. I'm not a scientist, but I cannot tell any performance difference between large and small particle. my frag tank had a terrible odor since I have been out of carbon for a while. after placing carbon in tank the odor was gone in less than an hour! great carbon!

I first purchased some of this about a year and a half ago as part of a club group buy. I had been feeding formula one pellets and noticed a greenish tint to the water. Wasn;t sure if it was algae bloom or tint, but figured this was worth a shot. Within a few hours, the water was crystal clear. At first I ran this in a TLF phosban reactor, but have since moved to a simple sock in a high flow area, which seems to be doing the trick as well.

Well this is the first time I have ever used carbon like this. I liked it, not too dusty, just ran it under some RO water for a bit in the bag and put it in the sump under the return from the tank.

I have been using this carbon for about a year now in a mesh bag placed in the back sump of my 34 gallon solana tank. It has been a tremendous help in keeping unwanted impurities out of my system.
Just be sure to wash out the new carbon before using it, this product does come with a little dust, but it doesn't take away from the great value and performance a bit!
Get it, you won't regret it!

I have only tried this type of Activated Carbon for my tank. (150g reef). This was my first time and I tried it because I was browsing through the excellect BRS videos so I decided to try it.

I really thought my water was clear before, but after about 1-2 weeks it seems more clear. I didn't even know I needed this activated carbon, but it seems to work great.

I put the carbon in the BRS deluxe reactor and that was easy to do. I did a good rinsing before going in being careful not to rub it together and cause more dust.

In and clear, I like it. :)

Great bang for the buck carbon. I'm using it in the BRS dual reactor... works as advertised and not much dust. The carbon was rinsed with RO water and it rinsed clean in about 30 seconds. I wish I had bought more.

This Lignite carbon works very well. The dust is not that bad. Really clears water up. I have it in a media bag with water from the overflow rolling over it. Recommended BUY !

I have used this activated carbon for years. I use it predominately in my freshwater aquarium (which has much greater discoloration due to lack of skimming ect) and it works great. I recommend the finer grain if you have a phosban reactor since it has a higher surface area. My experience with this carbon makes me excited to try their ROX carbon next.
