The small size has more surface area for adsorption, and fills the space better, than the large granule. Works well, in reef environments, with little rinsing required.

This has cleaned up my water very well and thus I would recommend it to a friend but I might recommend that he try the large particle version as it seems I can not find a pump that can comfortably push water through the small particle stuff.

I havent tried the premium stuff yet, dont know if I will. This stuff made a difference in my water clarity, especially when used in a reactor. This definitely beats the marineland stuff and pretty much anything else. you can tell the difference.

It works great in my brs reactor and my water is crystal clear!! It took about a week to kick in but when it did, it was crazy. My only complaint is that it's super dusty. But it's not a big deal.

If you are using a BRS reactor, then buy the large particle size. The small particle size is clumping up on me and restricting the flow through the reactor. Unfortunately, I purchased a 5 gallon bucket of the small particle size after successful use of the large particle size carbon. I hope this review keeps you from making the same mistake!

This carbon works just as good as any other carbon for much cheaper. It is also more user friendly. I use in in a reactor for my reef, and in my filter cartridges on my freshwater. Polishes the water and I dont have to worry about little carbon "floaties" all in my tanks>

I normally use Lignite in my 2LF 150 reactor with great results. When it came time to reorder, I accidentally ordered ROX 0.8 instead. I think the Lignite works just as well for my tank and the larger granules are MUCH easier to contain-the ROX 0.8 carbon slips past the sponges and ends up in my sump. The Lignite has more dust, but a quick rinse solves that.

It polishes your water great and it's a great price BUT it also has a LOT of dust. Running in my BRS reactor it turns my filter socks black no matter how much or how long I rinse it.

Am I an expert at this Hobby? No. Do I know everything? No. Is this the best carbon i've ever used? Yes! Now, keep in mind when i bought the carbon i also bought a reactor consecutively, it might of had something to do with it, all i know is that ever since i started using lignite in conjunction with granular GFO via the BRS deluxe reactor on my 29g Biocube, things haven't been the same! My corals look healthier, my water seems like its been ridicoulously polished, etc. im very happy with it.

I use this product in a large media reactor (1000 gal+ system) sandwiching two layers of carbon (large particle) with a layer of GFO in the middle (so the GFO doesn't escape through the top of the reactor). The combination keeps the water in this system crystal clear. The tank is just short of 30 feet long and when looking through one end, I could read a book at the other end and I'm not joking.

As there is a lot of dust that gets sent airborn when loading in large qty's it's a good idea to load up your media reactor in a well ventilated place (ideally outside). Highly recommended for efficacy and $ value.
