Inner container needs work By Kizmar on 2/19/13

I used this to run GFO in my system. The first set up was really easy, but when the time came to clean it and replace the GFO material I can into issues.
The sponge that's supposed to stay glued to the threaded inner container cap came unglued when I tried to take it apart. I ended up super-gluing it back together, but now the GFO falls through the threaded side when I add the material and flip it in the direction it's supposed to sit in the outer container. I'm assuming this is because the sponge needs to be glued all the way around and I just glued it in the middle.
This is all after the first cleaning mind you... I would score it better if this sponge issue didn't start so soon. It renders the entire thing almost useless.

Easy to install and well built By Seth on 9/19/12

I purchased two of these jumbo reactors several months ago.One for GFO and one for Carbon. They were very easy to install. IMO very good quailty parts.
Easy to adjust flow through the reactors. Make sure you do not tumble the carbon though as I did or you will get lots of fines in your system.
Only suggestion I have is to have clear filter canisters.

Works great By jrsevy on 3/6/12

The supplied sponge filters keep GFO and granulated carbon in place. I wanted to try Purigen but it is too small for the sponges to hold. I wrapped the top/bottom sponges with bags I kept from some Chemi-Pure Elite I had used up and it works well by securing the bottom sponge with a couple of small zip ties that poke through the sponge so it wouldn't float up (the supplied bottom sponge was hot glue down). My recommendation is to fill no more than half with Purigen to allow the little balls to tumble by using a valve to get the flow just right.
I also installed a regular sized filter housing with a 180 micron filter post Jumbo BRS reactor to keep the reactor contents from entering my tank, in the event it leaks by the sponges.
The Jumbo BRS is built like a tank and should last a lifetime.

Bought one of these for GFO, it is pretty big and built very well. Very easy to get up and running. The only down fall is when using GFO it is hard to see when its tumbiling. Would be nice to see them update the cartridge to the new clear hard shell.

horrible product By ron p on 11/10/11

Worst reactor I've ever tried. Screws that hold chamber to metal bracket strip easily. Sponges in reactor clog when using GFO. Sponges come unglued then fall on media not allowing media to "tumble" .

After few weeks of research I bought 2 Jumbo reactors for my 150G+50G Sump. One for GFO and second one for Carbon. Very solid construction. It's a excellent addition to my system. They are working perfect with Eheim 5000 Compact+ pump. Very easy maintenance.
The issues with the heat glue not sticking to the filter part where the cap is, it's NOT a problem. It's very easy to fix it.
I strongly recommend this product for 120G plus systems.

Currently am running full of carbon on my 180 . Setup was easy and am running this and the smaller reactor with gfo and circulating my chiller off of a mag 9.5. Another solid product from BRS...

Pretty good but needs quality control By Kingsnake on 8/12/11

I ordered 6 of these and 2 of the 6 had issues with the heat glue not sticking to the filter part where the cap is. Instructions online (Video) are not step by step so if you are a NOOB it does take a little understanding to figure it out exactly.

Buy It By John on 6/1/11

Great reactor. I bought 2 of these to upgrade from my Dual BRS GFO and Carbon reactor that had become too small when I upgraded to a 200 gallon tank. I find that my mag drive 5 will not tumble 4 cups of GFO so make sure to go with a large pump.

Good - but GFO is challenging By Brad on 3/2/11
Brad would recommend this product to a friend
I bought two of these. One for GFO and the other for carbon. The units are built very well and I like the swivel connectors. The mounting bracket is beefy and would probably support a truck. The only downfall I have is in using the BRS GFO pellets. The pellets are small enough they pass through the filter sponge and into my sump. It's only a small amount, but it's enough to require the use of a filter sock. If you are using GFO in one of these I highly recommend dumping it into a filter sock and not directly into your aquarium or sump. I did price the components separately to see what it would cost to make my own and I couldn't beat it - so I think it is a great value for what you get.

This thing is awesome. Its built very well and makes changing carbon a breeze!! It was always a pita to run carbon in my system because of limited space in my sump but now its a simple matter to change and maintain the carbon. Its a excellent addition to my system!

Nice Reactor By Mike R. on 8/27/10

I set up my Jumbo reactor. It is for a 150 Gallon tank with around a 25 gallon sump.
Bigger than I thought, but this thing is rock solid. I have 3 cups of pellet GFO running in it.
Fairly simple to set up. Basically plug in the pump and that is it. A MJ1200 barely pushed the pellets, but it seemed to work. I wound up feeding it off my main pump instead.
A lot of help from BFS. The best part of the product is their support both before I bought it and then after.

I had to purchase this Jumbo reactor to use with my CO2 Scrubber media. The regular sized reactors were chocking my air flow to my skimmer and not allowing the skimmer to work properly. I have the AquaC 400 skimmer. With this Jumbo reactor and its 1 inch ports, my issue was resolved.
