Super Easy to Install... By Larry H on 3/28/13

I bought two of these units last week. They have been working flawlessly. Sorry I didn't put them on sooner!
I'd say there was only one thing that wasn't much fun. That was the cutting and bending of the plastic bracket that holds the floats. I wished they would redesign it with some sort of universal sliding bracket for the floats to mount to. I'm closely monitoring my water levels in my refugiums and making sure these ATO's are working correctly. If I find a glitch or a hiccup, I'll be reposting what happened. So far, so good though!

OK By Jeremy on 2/20/13

I used this for a while with an aqualifter pump. It is a good entry value for ATO but mine would not kick on anymore after 8 months of use. I changed the relay, but that did not solve the issue. It must lay somewhere in the float switches.

Reliable By Matt on 1/17/13

I ran one of these kits on my 29 gallon for just over a year with no issues. I just installed one on my 120 gallon this last week. Super easy build and install. All you need is a cheap extension cord to wire into the relay so your pump can turn on and off. The float switches have been reliable and there is an emergency switch in place in case one does fail. While the moldable float switch holder does work for most people (I used in on my 29 gallon setup), I opted to build my own holder out of acrylic for the new build. Overall I would recommend this as a good affordable ATO solution.

Good directions By tom on 1/12/13

The kit requires an extension cord. Otherwise would be 5 stars. Easy directions. Hanging bracket is easy to mold, it turns clear while flexible.

Good affordable modules water top off kit By Nguyen on 12/24/12
Nguyen would recommend this product to a friend
If your budget is low, this is a good kit to have. The valves holder is flimsy but it works. The 12v power supply and relay can be replaced easily and available on their website, keep a spare one. I have one system for water top off and another system for kalkwasser in the same sump for a few years, replaced a relay once.

was nice, when it worked By Michelle on 5/16/12

after putting this thing together it worked pretty good for a week or 2. then it kept over filling, the bottom float was bad. company sent me out 2 new floats. had it for a little over 2 months now and today i noticed its not kicking on anymore regardless of what the floats are doing. wired on new floats and still not kicking on which means now the danged relay is busted. its been enough of a headache that i really wish i had just spent an extra 20 bucks. it is an eyesore for sure with wires going all over the friggin place. some seem to work great per reviews, and others seem to be crap. i have contacted customer service again but may end up at radio shack for a new relay.

This is a somewhat interesting project but the importance of ATO performance and the fact that well engineered and manufactured products can be had for only a few dollars more mean I will look elsewhere for my next ATO.

Your crazy to not have ATO automated By pdog22 on 4/10/12

This is probably the best value you will find for what it does. The ATO has worked perfect, and you can trust it with the dual water level checks. If you have any skills you will be able to put this together, no problem.

Garbage By Jeffrey on 3/16/12

Do yourself a huge favor an don't waste your money on this, pay the extra money an get a built one. Bracket is cheap that you have to mold yourself. An when it is all said an done you don't have near enough wire to run it. If you don't mind a bulky eyesore this is the one for you.

Over all good product I recommend it for any tank By Sean on 2/23/12

My only complaint is the relay I put the system together like the instructions said, and the next day herd the relay buzz for a few seconds off and on for 5 minutes every now and then. So I ended up removing the relay and replacing it with a fuze holder and fuze (5-8 amp just to save the switches). Now the switches flip and the pump kicks on with no noise just smooth operation. I use the Aqua Lifter Vacuum Pump it is very quite i would recommend this pump for the system...

Good product easy to install By Cord on 1/15/12

this product was real easy to install and assemble. float switches work like a charm. if there was a con to the product at all it would be that the relay switch makes a clicking sound every time the float switch activates it. this is not really noticeable if placed under the tank near the sump or behind cabinets. over all i am happy with the price and ease of this product

Great Value By Dizzle on 11/10/11

Just set this up and it's been running about a week. This is a great little ATO for the price. It was very easy to follow the included instructions (lots of photos). The relay is pretty loud and the sensor is pretty sensitive. My pump normally kicks on and off repeatedly for about 2 minutes and then I don't hear it again for a couple of hours. My only concern with it is that it does take up two plugs instead of just one. But for the extra $60 I saved I can live with it.

Great product, but had a small problem about a week after it was installed. The relay "broke" for apparently no reason. I email the manufacturer and they sent a new relay right away. I couldn't wait so I took it to Radio Shack, they had the part for $7. Now, I have a back up just in case.

Anything to make it simplier! By Phil on 5/4/11
Phil would recommend this product to a friend
This is a great little DIY kit. Got it all set up with no problems. Instructions were easy to follow, the only problem I see is that even with a 'slosh/snail guard' it still needs to be paid attention to. Only of my floats, in a guard is not traveling correctly and making the on/off as smoothly as it should. Gets partially there and the relay will buzz for a second or two before kicking on or off. This is just maintenance and probably just needs cleaning, I'm guilty of ignoring it. Besides that, works great... been set up and using for 3 months with no issues. Just make sure cleaning the switches is added to your maintenance schedule.

Awesome value for the money By firebirdude on 9/13/10

I'll echo what the others have said. It's a kit that works, for cheap. I'm going to go ahead and say the kit is flawless...with the following exceptions. Biggest thing that bugs me is that the relay is really loud. Each time it kicks on/off, I can hear it throughout the room. Add that to the fact the float switch is pretty sensitive, it's clacking every 2 minutes. Second thing that keeps it from being completely perfect is not the kit's fault. It's the float switches. I've already had one get stuck in the up position. (No water pumping in, sump ran very low) I just beat on it a little bit to bang the reeds inside around. Been working fine for months now.

Awesome top off By Todd on 3/12/10
Todd would recommend this product to a friend
This will do anything the name brands will do at a huge savings . It requires that you put it together but as long as you can read and follow the directions to a tee it is simple. You can have an Auto top-off . A small tip instead of cutting into the wire of a aqualifter or other pump just use a cheapy lamp type extension cord and you can hook up as many things as you have outlets for.I dose Kalk and top-off with RO at the same time it runs about 3 times an hour. But you cant even hear the aqualifters run just a slight trickle of water WARNING:To avoid siphoning back out of your tank dont submerge the line in your sump.

Works Great! Very Happy. By IbnOzn on 12/14/09
IbnOzn would recommend this product to a friend
I bought one of these about 6 months ago. It was pretty simple to put together, the directions were easy to follow and it works very well. I have an Aqualifter on it for the topoff and also a Maxijet to circulate the water in my reservoir. The only issue might be that the magnetic float switch can be sensitive and will tend to buzz if situated right next to another magnet such as a large pump— but literally we're talking right next to. Mine sits about 4" from my return pump in the same sump compartment though and works just fine. I'd definitely buy another one of these and would recommend it to other people.
