This is by far one of the best investments you can ever make for you tank. The time and hassle this will save you are well worth the cost alone, not to mention this this is dead accurate time after time, after time. this product will give you a true and stable salinity. if you are having problems with your tank salinity is the base of everything. with this you will know without doubt if your salinity is or is not where is should be.

This product has made my life so much easier when testing my water. The only problem is is that it is a little hard to read. I wish there was an even easier way to test water. Still a good product though.

I calibrated this once and whenever I try to recalibrate it is already spot on. Super easy to use, big improvement over the float type.

I always used to use a standard run of the mill hydrometer until it was recommended by my LFS that I use a refractometer. I didn't want to spend a lot of money for one in case I didn't like it. I found this one to be well built for the price and works great. My only complaints are it's hard to read in certain light and the instructions are very basic.

Read accurate right out of the box, which was great because my swing arm hydrometer was reading off by .015 pts. A little hard to see through, just need to use a bright light.

Unit works great, and accurately measures salinity with the calibration solution right out of the box. It's a little hard to see, just make sure you hold it up to a bright light. Glad I bought it as my swing type hydrometer was off by .015 pts.

All in all its not to bad for the price. compared it to my buddies 80 dollar one an its was way off. Don't bother with calibration fluid ro water will do the trick

This is great I've been using the swing arm hydrometer for years now, I haven't bought a refractometer because my local fish store sells them for a little too much. So when I seen this one I bought it without thinking twice... It's so easy to calibrate and easy to reed all around great product!

I had been hesitating a while to get a refractometer because at my LFS they are selling them for $99 and I thought my swing arm Hydrometer was doing the job well enough.
Then I got my water tested and learned that I was at 1.021 instead of 1.026. I picked this up and haven't looked back since.
Not only is it easier, BRS's price is well worth it. On top of everything else it comes with calibrating solution and I really like the handy case.
The refractomter itself is well built and seems like it will last forever.
Great product, so glad I didn't wait any longer to get one.

If you want to be certain of your salinity, get a refractometer. Hydrometers you buy from the store are not as nearly as accurate. Fish only tanks you can squeak by with a hydrometer but if you have precious coral I suggest a refractometer. This is perfect for my setup at home when I am making fresh salt water with my rodi unit.

This refactometer is very easy to use and feels like it was built really well. This kit that BRS offers is awesome; you get everything you need to test your salinity under 40 bucks! I've looked elsewhere for something similar and everything I found was more expensive and not worth the price. Cost is a major factor for me and this was priced just right. Thanks BRS!

DO NOT relie on a swing arm. Mine was shoing 1.026 forever. I ordered this on a Monday evening and it was here Wednesday afternoon. I tested my main and frag tanks and WOW, both read 1.021. Swing arm still shows 1.026 ish.

Very high quality construction, and extremely easy to use! plus free calibration solution!!! i love that it only requires two drops of tank water unlike a hydrometer which requires a few ounces of water!
