Every marine aquarist should have a quality refractometer and this one definitely fits the bill and the has a great price point. Having a refractometer also gives some peace of mind while doing quick salinity checks versus using a hydrometer that can be very inaccurate.

Just getting back into Saltwater after away 15 years. First item I have ordered from BRS or any online store. Saw it was offered at a great price and knew I needed to order it. Order was placed online on Friday 12/23/12. Receive it Monday 123/26/12. Better than expected. Refactometer is well built, nice weight and was easy to focus. Even got Calibration Solution with it. This item I would recommend to anyone wanting a quality product.

There is no better way to measure salinity than with this refractometer. I proceeded to calibrate after receiving unit with included calibration fluid.

Great item and a very necessary in the reefing hobby, not to mention the bargain price.

With this I was able to find out how much my salinity was off compared to my floating hydrometer which had slight calcium build up on it.

It's my 1st refractometer it seems great and accurate. I have 20/20 vision and the only complain I have is I wish it came with bigger number chart , maybe a better zooming, or a scale running SG 1.015 - 1.035 or 1.040 , but still a great product.

I am very happy with this and it has held up well for 6 months so far. I have learned that not only is it important to wipe off with fresh water, you also need to wash the rag out with fresh water from time to time, as it will absorb salt and start to affect the ability to clean.

I had originally bought this because i was fight ICH and putting my main display tank into hyposalanity but i quickly found out how far off the standard bubble gauges are well worth a few extra bucks to get accurate readings
