This is great I've been using the swing arm hydrometer for years now, I haven't bought a refractometer because my local fish store sells them for a little too much. So when I seen this one I bought it without thinking twice... It's so easy to calibrate and easy to reed all around great product!

I had been hesitating a while to get a refractometer because at my LFS they are selling them for $99 and I thought my swing arm Hydrometer was doing the job well enough.
Then I got my water tested and learned that I was at 1.021 instead of 1.026. I picked this up and haven't looked back since.
Not only is it easier, BRS's price is well worth it. On top of everything else it comes with calibrating solution and I really like the handy case.
The refractomter itself is well built and seems like it will last forever.
Great product, so glad I didn't wait any longer to get one.

If you want to be certain of your salinity, get a refractometer. Hydrometers you buy from the store are not as nearly as accurate. Fish only tanks you can squeak by with a hydrometer but if you have precious coral I suggest a refractometer. This is perfect for my setup at home when I am making fresh salt water with my rodi unit.

This refactometer is very easy to use and feels like it was built really well. This kit that BRS offers is awesome; you get everything you need to test your salinity under 40 bucks! I've looked elsewhere for something similar and everything I found was more expensive and not worth the price. Cost is a major factor for me and this was priced just right. Thanks BRS!

DO NOT relie on a swing arm. Mine was shoing 1.026 forever. I ordered this on a Monday evening and it was here Wednesday afternoon. I tested my main and frag tanks and WOW, both read 1.021. Swing arm still shows 1.026 ish.
