First BRS 50ml dosing pump failed just shy of 2 years. I use exclusively for Kalkwasser at a rate of about 3 gallons per day coupled with a aqua controller for redundancy.

Same reason as others have had, motor runs but the gears no longer strong enough to spin.

After researching for a different pump to replace this failed pump, I came to the conclusion that the higher quality dosing pumps were in the price range of $300.

So knowing that I'm still saving even if I have to replace this pump more often.

Use this to dose kalk water on my 150 gallon tank easy to adjust the time when coupled with a digital timer. This is the life line of my tank the heart that's how much trust I have in this product

Work great til the gears stripped. Was used for R/O top off water with Neptune controller. Life was cut short just before it's 1st birthday.

I would only recommend if you needed 6 months of use...

used mine for about 6 months then took a break... started using it again this fall then it failed. pump sounds like it is trying to work but the pinch roller will not turn. I was counting on this pump to keep my Ca levels right but I may be looking for a better product.

Mine failed after a few months of normal use. The motor turned, but the rollers did not. It was under warranty and BRS replaced it quickly. There are a handful of failures with these pumps with members of my local reef club. I recommend steering clear.

I have purchased several of these pumps for dripping Kalkwasser from my resevoir to top off tank from evaporation. The pumps are xtremely accurate and easy to set up. I have owned for almost a year and its still working just as well as it did on day 1.

I used these pumps for my ATO and these worked great for a year, but than one died and i replaced it with a spare pump, which died in about 2 weeks. When works are great, but for that kind of money, I would expect better durability.

I don't know what this pump sounds like when it's mounted outside of a wooden stand, but it's pretty loud when it's mounted inside of one. I use it to dose my kalk on an Apex, and it performs like clockwork every 30 minutes. It was also a little bit bigger than I expected, coming in at ~4hx3wX4d (inches). It gets the job done, but I think it would be a much better value at the sale price permanently.

I purchased this for my Biocube 29 and it has been running perfectly for several months. As referenced in the description of the product there is some associated noise but for the amount of time the doser runs it is not an issue.

I have 3 of these, plus two of the 1.1 ml per minute pumps. I guess I'm all in. Working well so far. I use one of these for my auto top off. The other two I use as a automatic water changer. They run 20 minutes every 6 hours, one in each direction. My outflow pulls water from 15 feet away, and pushes in agains their ceiling another 20 feet to the drain. Tough little pumps. Time will tell on durability I guess.

After trying multiple Tom's Aquatic Aqua Lifter pumps with each one failing to work I bought one of these and love it. I used industrial strength velcro to attach it to the stand, to me its quiet. However, it is in a fish room and the noise is probably drowned out by the other pumps.

I actually bought two of these because I saw some of the other reviews where they had broken down. From the initial setup point of view, these devices are thick front-to-back. I am mounting these to a wall rather than a stand and I will likely cut out the dry wall to embed them as the back is about the same depth as a dry wall electrical box. I was concerned they would stick out so far they would get bumped and ripped off the wall. Very sturdy feeling.

Fast enough to keep but not so fast it changes water chemistry rapidly ! The one and only flaw I have noticed w/ it is fairly loud on initial kick in, but not to loud it's livable other than that amazing ato pump guys !!!

Bought one of these to use as a top off pump 3 months ago. It broke this weekend - gears are stripped inside. I see this has happened to others. It's a very simple design, took it apart and its just a simple motor that turns the two tumblers. Testing my finger lightly against one of the tumblers showed stopped it completely (motor turning, but tumbler assembly slipping). It appears the gears inside are cheap and that is the problem with these.

I'm using it on a controller as my ATO pump. I like that it doesn't clog which is a bonus since I have kalk in my ATO resevior. I can't comment on why it's failed for others. However, per the instructions, it specifically says that this pump is only supposed to run intermittently and NOT continously. Another note is that it sounded like a freight train when I mounted it to the back of my wood stand. You'll want to put something soft between it and your stand to cushion the vibration if you go this route.

I have three of these and am just looking for an excuse to buy another. I also have the 1.1ml/m version. It's very good too but achingly slow compared to this one. Each has their own use, of course, I just kind of wish there were an intermediate speed (or two) between the 1.1 and 50.

I had this pump for about a month and it failed. I was told I had to send it in with the RMA and they would send out a new one. There is no advance exchange offer. Really BRS look in to this. Most big company have this option. I was very disappointed with this hole thing. So I order another to keep as a spare.

Third pump, third pump failure. Read my previous review. This one lasted at least lasted a year and half give or take thankfully. So now 2 years from my first purchase and I've been through 3 of these pumps, all broken. Took one apart, the gears in the motor are plastic and are stripping. Pretty cheap. Anyways, most seem to be having good luck with them so take this for what you will but be warned, they may not last all that long. Too bad too because when they work they do a good job, just very undependable for $100.
