Works, but noisier than they used to be By Edward on 1/28/13
Edward would recommend this product to a friend
As the title says, it moves as much water as it says it does, but it produces a humming sound that the older models didn't. On a budget they are great. Otherwise, may want to consider something else like a Cobalt or Eheim Compact.

Great pump for the price By Shirvon on 9/25/12

This is a great little pump, I use it with the propeller rotor for flow in my 20 gal and it sure keeps things moving.
I would not recommend it for a wave maker as it is a bit noisy on start up.

Great little pump. I use it for so many things (mix saltwater, backup, reactor...) It's not very exciting but works when you need it. Great price and very versatile. Nothing else I could ask for. Thanks BRS!

Good pump for the price By Louis on 8/16/12

As many others have said this pump can be loud but for the price it can't be beat. I use it as a replacement pump in my 14G biocube and love the flow it creates.

Low cost, good flow, but a little loud By Ron on 7/26/12
Ron wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
I got this to use with the reactor instead of the recommended 1200 as it draws about 1/2 the watts with only a little loss in flow. The flow is fine and the price is fair, however the pump is loud to me. It is louder than my skimmer skimmer pump - skimmer is a reef octopus. On the plus it connects right up with the BRS reactors.

incredible value for the price By Corbin on 3/29/12

These may not be the nicest powerheads, but on a budget these will add flow where you need it in a smaller tank. They do make some noise, and the motor is slightly large. Even so I purchased a second unit for my cichlid tank. There is just no arguing with the price.

Good pump, moves the water nicely. It is just a bit noisier than I expected. All in all not a bad pump for the price.

So frustrating By Aaron on 9/7/11
Aaron wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
For an affordable pump that is a versatile as this one, I guess I should keep my expectations low. However, I can not understand how MaxiJet got this one wrong. The housing disengages from the pump and its LOUD! If you're using this pump in a reactor where you have to restrict the flow, be prepared for a loud vibrating noise coming from underneath your cabinet. Louder than my skimmer, louder than my Mag9.

Great Reliable Pump By Joel on 9/5/11

I bought one of these to run my BRS single GFO reactor. Pump itself has worked great ever since I bought it. However, I ended up switching to a maxijet 1200 as over time I found that while the 900 worked well enough, I wasn't quite getting the flow I wanted from it, so if you are considering one for your reactor you may want to step up to the next pump as I did.

Great product! It's a hobby standard. By Chris on 5/10/11

I have used marineland products for years, and I, finally, decided to try this powerhead, and wasn't dissapointed. I have it connected to a wavemaker, and I attached a rotating water deflector to it as well, and it creates great random, and multidirectional flow. I bought two, for my 75 gallon mixed reef, and both work like champs. Lots cheaper, than some of the propeller type powerheads, and you can buy the propeller type attachment, for this pump, if you decide to, later. Great deal, for an awesome product!

I purchased this powerhead to run my BRS Carbon/GFO reactor. I did so for multiple reasons. . I've owned several of these units for 7+ years. Minimal maintenance is required to keep them running. Love the price!

I got one of these to use with my carbon reactor, and so far it works great. It definitely seems like a solid pump, much better quality than other brands I've had in the past...

Keeps on tickin... By Lisadawn on 8/8/10

I have had one of these in my 30 gallon backup tank for close to 9 years now. Thhis tank houses all my little reef critters-food for mandarin, etc, and has acted as a quarantine tank on occasion. We had a chocolate chip star who lived in this tank for 8+ years, (after being removed from my reef tank due to his destructive habits). We would feed him daily amounts of dry algae on a clip, and he'd come and "suck up" to it. Of course, there'd always be pieces getting away, floating, and eventually getting sucked into this powerhead. I can't tell you how many times this thing was so jammed with stuff, or knocked over due that star fish. We'd just clean it out, and it'd keep running. I have never had to replace or repair this item in all the years it's been in this tank. I sure do miss my "chip", who died of old age in this aquarium! I also wouldn't hesitate for a second to replace this powerhead with the same model.

Not much much more to say. They are cheap and work for simple tasks. I used this to run a reactor before redoing my return plumbing.
