I have a reef keeper lite. Have to say I am not happy with it. I is a pain in the ass to connect to a computer there customer service sucks. the system works fine with the tank front controler but i really wanted to use it with a laptop that I bought just for the fishtank room. In this day things should just be plug and play and the reef keeper makes you have to update the modules before use in a special order jump through some hoops of fire and sit on top of your protein skimmer with your left foot in a tub of rodi water while holding a steel rod during a thunder storm,which for some reason i was not able to do. i just gave up on it and use it from the main display. it also uses phone type wires vs usb wires, i would not buy there syestem again or tell any one else to..... pick another brand

Saves you a ton of money on the electric bill, and is great for ATO with a float. great buy!

This controller did what I needed it to but left me with no room to expand. I was never able to get the Thermometer to read the proper temperature and had offset the controller to compensate for the difference. It's made of plastic and feels kind of cheap, I recently just switched over to the Apex Controller and so far I like it far better than Digital Aquatics.

Ok so at first I thought the RKL was a frivolous gadget for my aquarium… After upgrading my tank I can’t see not using a controller. This unit was a great value AND they have excellent support! I just wish the internet connection was standard. I don't really want to give up my last module just to gain internet access. I plan on adding a bunch of switches and spill sensors on my last module.

no manual to guide you and tech support for almost one and haft hour until they close nothing just frustrating situation day i wish that i both the apex controller instead. think many many many times before you buy this.if you have work no one able to help you because the office hour 8;30 am to 4;30 pm Monday to Friday. I went home 1 1/2 hour early just to call them but no will answer you except stupid machine.

I think knowing what I know now I would most likely go with the Apex. Less hassle and no expansion limits. 1st of all when item was received the directions were pi@@ poor. No mention of the Myreef software at all. Only shows how it connects up. Figuring out programming is all up to you. Google and more Google. Finally found software download link on the DA forum. Then how it connects to the software?? You guessed it..on your own again. Not to
Mention I received it on Friday but can't use it because it was missing a bus cable. Contacted BRS an they said they would send DA an email. I guess I could have done that. Ordered an extra PC4 that should be here today and was told by BRS it wouldn't most likely have a BUS cable with it either! You kidding me?? I have had alot of time to figure out programming though since I can't actually use my $300 paper weight.

After buy the RKL, I do not know how I operated without it for so long. The RKL is probably one of the best investments I have made for my tank. It keeps my temperature right where it needs to be without me having to do anything, the fear of electrical fires has since left, light timers, power head controls, auto top off, you name it and the RKL can control it, and I can go to bed at night with confidence that my tank will not destroy my house. It sounds funny, but its true.

After viewing the BRS how to start a reef tank video series I decided to make the investment at the very beginning. I love the fact that I can control the temperature, dosing pumps, top off, and lighting schedule all with the same interface. I also set up some float switches that will automatically shut off my sump if something were to block the overflow. It's hard to put a price on the peace of mind this product offers.

As long as you're not looking for all the bells and whistles, this is the perfect controller.

This product works very well but trying to figure out how to work it was an absolute pain and the instructions that came with it left me with more questions still. There is only one fold out page with rigid controller setup options and it doesn't explain all the options you aren't using.

For all of you that want to enjoy your tank and not have to turn lights on or check PH all the time or control what you dose in your tank then the Reefkeeper is the controller you want. I only wish I had got the Elite so I could have more modules. The Lite only lets you have 4 the Elite lets you have 64.

This setup will cover a good portion of setups that are being done by the hobbiest. Temp control, pH, configurable alarms, dimming of fixtures with the ALC module....With the myReef software on your pc, setup is a snap. It's nice to have a snapshot of your system available at your fingertips.

If I knew how much easier and automated my reef tank could be, I would of purchased this long ago. I highly suggest buying this when setting up a new tank. It can save you so much money and give you peace of mind with the alarms. Love the built in wavemaker also.

I have been using the cable/cord mess along with timers. Never again! I called and spoke with the BRS Sales guys and they got me dialed in. Great customer service along with a great product are an unbeatable combination.

This may not be the "best" controller available, but it is easy to use, setup, performs flawlessly and is easy on the wallet.

Getting this setup was a little difficult. Instruction guides and help is on their website, but i knew this before i bought it from previous reviews. Once i did get it going it's great. Contols everything on my tank and it's great knowing i have everything monitored.

I got the reef keeper lite plus to start out on my first tank, and I would never try anything else. It's affordable, and does so much out of one package. Literature is pretty crappy though, so some fiddling is needed to learn all the ins and outs of the myreef 2.0 software

Easy installation. Feature rich. Easy to configure from both pc and display. Wouldnt have a tank without it.

I always thought that these controllers were for big systems with more stuff to monitor. I was wrong. I use to spend a lot of time adjusting heaters when different seasons rolled around and trying to time cooling fans to cool the lights at the hottest part of the day. I would constantly have to check the temperature and was never at ease. Now I have everything plugged into my ReefKeeper Lite. I have the tank set at 78 degrees and it stays there all day and all night long. If it gets too hot the cooling fan comes on and if it gets even hotter the lights will turn off for a little while. At night it cools down and the heaters come on. I also have powerheads and refugium lights plugged into it. I recommend getting the Lite Plus package because it comes with the extra strip of plugs. Four plugs just isn't enough and you'll end up getting more.

Keep in mind that this comes with almost no instructions on how to set up. After two hours of pulling out my hair I just called digital aquatics and they walked me through it making it extremely easy. Just call them when you open it because it'll save you time and frustration!

I purchased this controller to control lights, ATO, an automatic water change system I DIY'd, Ph for my Kalk ATO water and to control temp with a fan/heater.
The SID that came with the unit didn't work, but Digital Aquatics sent a replacement. The Reefkeeper Lite will provide you with basic functionality, and I added the MLC unit to control LED moonlights, too.That's all four modules allotted with the Lite, so I cant add anything else to control, but if you're looking for basic functionality, this controller is the best value.
Some of the components feel flimsy, especially the connections, but everything works. There is a bit of a learning curve, and the MyReef 2.0 software is so-so. Updating firmware is a chore. For the money though, I got my buck's worth.

I love my RKL. It controls everything from my lights to my heaters to my dosing pumps. It tops off my water and keeps my tank perfect. There is no comparison, this is the best product on the market to control your aquarium.

I have the Lite Plus unit on my tank and have used the 4th module for a 3rd PC4. I love this unit but I am already planning to upgrade to the Elite unit mainly because I fint that I need more PC4 units and also I want the NET and LS2 with Salinity and second PH probe.

This product is great and can do more stuff than I know how to do. The only downfall that is has are the directions. Trying to figure it out was really hard. Thankfully I used the videos on this website to help me along.

Will save you a lot of time and way more stable parameters. An investment but a good one and WELL worth it

Hard to set up with the minimal instructions but good unit use it for kalk temp and lights

The product is very good once you figure out how to setup. You are only given a one page fold-out as instructions and are expected to browse the forum for help. I guess I expect thorugh instructions after spending nearly $300.

Got this unit early this week had everything hooked up working fine, until i tried to hook it up to myreef2.0 thats when everything went down hill its just been problem after problem first the modules were all reading that they were a different module when i fixed that then the pc4s started acting up and not even turning on and now i have the headunit, sl1 and just one of the pc4s working the other pc4 will not even turn on when it plugged in or even detectable in myreef and to go along with that when i connect the modules that do work all together unplugged from the wall into the usb myreef only detects the RKL nothing else and doesnt even show the serial number. I am hoping either BRS or DA will RMA this unit and give me a new one because ive just had problems with this one after following everything DA has told me to do and what all the forums say.

This product comes with ZERO set up instructions. Nothing step by step, nothing user friendly. Haven't had it installed long enough to rate the product as we are still trying to figure it out. The BRS video only covers a small portion of what this unit could be capable of doing. They have a "forum" which may be helpful if your tank is in the same room. BRS should step up and support their customers and decline to market this product until Digital Aquatics can see fit to offer a printable version of instructions.

Yeah its a pain to get it setup, but the control and saftey of this controller is well worth it. You don't have to worry about flooding your tank, cooking your fish is the heater fails, ect. And then the control u get, control your lights, use it as a wave maker, a top-off controller, reads ph, i mean with all this thing does it saves me money vs buying all of the indiviual pieces to do what it does, a lot of money.

First look at the price was steep but after I returned the timers and power strips almost paid for itself right there. Makes me feel better about having a aquarium in a apt knowing it is being monitored

I cant believe i didnt buy this in the first place. I spent a lot of time researching it. Like everyone else said, Instructions are horrible. I pretty much already knew that, so what i did is learned as much info as possible, and asked my friend "you tube" for help. Yeah still took about a day to get it going, but i love this system. I control everything, with it. Lights, skimmer, pumps, overflow switch, ato. Love it.

I couldn't imagine ever running a tank again without this! Talk about total control over everything!! Wish I had one more power strip just for my lights. Other than that... AWESOME!

price seems high, but definatly makes up for it in value & performance! the extra added protection is prefect to keep your reef tank save. knowing something went wrong before you notice it yourself gives you time to fix it instead of seeing something "dead" in you tank :)

This should make my life easier and seems to have endless upgrade possibilities. The biggest problem will be learning how to best utilize all the function. Almost no instructions.

Ok, first off I want to say that this is in no way shape or form to reflect on BRS. They are a fantastic company and have always given me top notch customer service over the years.

Now, onto the RKL lvl3+. This is a great unit it does the job very well but there are two issues that I have with it. There are ZERO directions. You get some sort of piss poor excuse for a single page fold out pamflet and they expect it to show you how to set it up with that. it only shows a few very basic functions of the unit. In order to figure out some of the more basic functions of this controller I had to go onto their web forum, which after enough digging I found a "user manual" that frankly is garbage. It doesn't even cover how to hook it up to a computer or update firmware onto each module. let alone many of the other functions this controller is capable of, hell it doesn't even cover how to calibrate the PH PROBE! I have been wanting a controller for years and have always looked to Digital aquatics because when compared to the Neptune APEX, the RKL did everything I wanted for $200 less. Yes the are all kinds of other bells and whistles that you an get like webserver capability etc. I just didn't see a need for them. This unit does everything I need it to and then some for a good price. Which you would think for this price there would be some sort of "user manual", that you know, actually showed a user how to use all the functions of the product they just got done spending several hundred dollars on! It really is a wonderful product and does a great job I would just think that for a product with the MSRP this has it would come with something other than many hours of hunting in their boards or waiting for a response to a thread to figure out how to set the damn thing up.

Now for the other quam i have with this unit and its really not a very big one. One of the reasons that I switched over to this was to try and quiet down my tank by using new Hydor Evo pumps on a wavemaker format and a variety of other upgrades. Well I upgraded to the Hydor evo's because they dont knock when turned off an on which is great. only to discover that the relays in the RKL pc4's make a horribly loud knocking sound that frankly makes me rather disappointed in the quality. I mean their louder than any relay you would find in a car by a large margin, maybe thats just because of the amount of power they are rated to run? I'm really not sure but they certainly are NOT quiet.

I really like this controller, it comes with everything and programming from my reef 2.0 is a must along with the BRS video. If I did not do this I think I would still be scratching my head to have it initially set up. However, I am still trying to completely figure this unit out. There is a learning curve but it would be less steep if the instructions were written with less RKL jargon. I still like my RKL and it does make my life easier.

So I listened to the BRS guys and decided to buy a controller right off the bat on a new 90 gallon setup, rather than phase it in over time. I looked at both the RKL and APEX Lite units. Dollar for dollar this system offered everything i needed, albeit without the bells & whistles (which in my experience are nice - but not must haves). I run the RKL on a 90 gallon DT with a 30 gallon sump/fuge.Added the dual float switches for ATO and 'run-dry' protection. Works flawlessly!

I don't know how I ever survived without this thing. It takes so much worry out of reeding. Great value!

I bought this reef keeper plus for my 120g and it works very well. All i wanted was an auto top off for my tank. Well the one i wanted was the tunze and its almost the same price as the reef keeper lite. So decided to go with the RKL which i programed to control my ATO,SKIMMER,RET PUMP,ETC . It didn't come with good instructions but all i did was call Digital Aquatics and they guided me step by step to program what i wanted. Definitely reccomend this controller to any reefer who's on a budget.

This is the first controller I've used and I'm still getting up to speed on it. But I saw several comments about lack of instructions and thought I'd mention that it a product manual is available at reefkeepers website. Also, I received a prompt, thorough, and easy to understand email in response to several questions I asked about my RKL Plus. So far, so good.
