The RKL is a great product. It is easily expandable and simple to set up. I have mine hooked up to my 75g system. Right now im just running all my lights and heater of the system. I also added the net module which was a little hard to get set up but provide great functionality if you need to check on you tank if your out of town etc. Overall I think this is a great starter controller. My recommendation would be spend the extra cash and get the mid level package.

Right now I'm using it to control the heaters, fans, and ato. Before I had the RKL on my tank my temperatures would fluctuate between 78* and 81*, now that I have the RKL on my tank the temperatures stay within 1/2 of a degree of 77.9*. Also topping off my tank was a nightmare due to loosing around a gallon a day from evaporation, now I just fill up the bucket every 3-4 days. It does its job really well and its also the cheapest controller on the market other than making an arduino diy controller. There's only one thing that bugged me when I got my RKL and that was the serious lack of an instruction manual.

Because I’m knew to the hobby I did not know if I needed a controller, but because I live in Nevada and electrify being not so cheap I had to put in a chiller on my system or keep the house cooler I think we know the answer. So I called the guys at BRS and they hooked me up with the RKL basic and now it runs my whole system this unit is awesome thanks again to the guys at BRS

I bought the L1 version and would reccomend anyone looking at these systems to get the L3 version everything this will do you will want the L3 and the cost to upgrade from the L1 to the L3 you should just go ahead and get the L3 to begin with

At first I was a bit confused by the device. Honestly the user manual is non existent considering what this device can do! But it is great! Maintains my tank temp within +- .5 degrees F cycles my pumps for wave making, timer for my fuge light, standby mode for feeding. It has so many more capabilities, but for now this works excellent! Great value for 100 bucks

To control so many things with one thing is very nice. It has helped keep my temps rock solid, and getting real time data is very imortant. A little hard to get programed in the begining, but once you understand it, it is very easy.
You are able to control may things for your buck. Great deal.

I was looking at spending $100-$150 in decent timers form my light. With the 4 outlet PC-4 on the basic system, I was able to do the same exact thing and GET A WHOLE CONTROLLER for the same money. Since then I have added another PC-4 and the net controller. Ive got 2 of koralia evolutions on wavemaker mode and works like a champ.

The net controller allows you to connect the controller to your home network. With a spare wireless adapter in bridge mode, I was able to give the NET module wireless access. The built in Reef Keeper software for the NET is web based. Now view my tank stats from my iPhone and can even turn on or off any item plugged into the PC-4s!

I needed a good timer for my 2 t5 ballasts and a decent digital timer was around 35-45 each. Few a few more dollars I got the RKL and can control my lights and have one of my Koralia Evos on wave maker mode. And still had a plug for my heater.

Heaters are often over looked as area for fault possibilities. If a heater with a built in control dies while on (which is common), you're tank could cook. Whit the RKL, I plugged in a plain titanium heater to the 4th plug and let it control the heater on and off. If the heater breaks while on, the RKL will disconnect power when the cutoff temp is reached.

This is a no BRAINER purchase in my book.

Being an Energy Engineer, I love to tinker with electronics. At the same time, however, I have no patience for ones that are difficult or tedious to program. The RKL system is extremely straight forward. I have it running my heater, T5HO's, and two Hydor Koralia Evo powerheads.

Just note that small motor loads such as the powerheads must be plugged into channels 1 and 4 on the PC4 module. The solid state relays on channels 2 and 3 will stick (latch) in the ON position if small loads are connect. No biggie. I just connected my 300W heater and my 2x54W T5HO's to Ch2 and 3.

I bought this product and the SL2 module. Everything works great, although I find with a SL2 module, the plugs, and the net module....you might want to also consider upgrading to the elite. The Lite only allows 4 modules.

Other than that I use it to do heating, dosing, PH monitor, lights, and more. This makes the 4 plugs go really fast.

I only gave this 4 stars for performance because I found that once when I was playing with the settings, the whole system reset reset. This has only happened once, and probably fixed in a firmware update (haven't updated firmware yet). Other than that this is a great deal.

I love this Device! I use it to control everything. The heater option allows me to keep my temps with in .1 Degree and that's way better than trying to set it. Also I use an old heater that use to burn up and set the default to off and the RKL make this device work flawless. I also love that it can tell me amps as well as graph anything I want.

Very easy to use and well thought out. Easy menu navigation on the controller itself. Even easier with the new MyReef 2.0 With this you install a program onto your computer and you can update firmware as well as program every component of your system on the computer instead of having to go through all of the menus. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I have since upgraded and have PH and Salinity probes too, knowing exactly what your tank is doing all day and night when you are not there to monitor it. Since I have been using mine it makes keeping up with chemistry a breeze! The initial set up can be tricky but DA has a lot of support to help with that... I am currently buying my 2nd RKL for new nano build I am doing!

The level 1 kit as it comes is only really useful for light automation as well as temperature control. This has made my tank so much easier to maintain and only took me around 20 minutes from unboxing to full control.

I purchased this controller with the thought of just controlling my lighting and tank temp.After receiving it I found out this thing is way more capable of just temp and lighting and far exceeds my expectationsI have it controlling fans,I can have it turn on my fans when my tank temp hits a personal temp setting and also has a PH module you can add.
