I got tired of dealing with the API conundrum of "the tube color really isn't any shade on the chart". I finally made the switch to Salifert and I'm not looking back. The Alk test is actually pretty easy to use once you get the hang of the syringe. I really appreciate the accuracy that Salifert delivers.

kH is the easiest of the tests, color change is obvious. Can be a bit slow if you are trying to be very accurate.

i have tried other kits on the market , and this is closest to a hanna checker with out the extra cost for a digital test. took a couple times to make sure your read the instructions close... on the money test.

Great testkits. I have tried many other brands of testkits, but I always come back to Salifert. They are easy to use and accurate. With the KH testkit you can use the low resolution and usually get more than one hundred tests.

I love this kit. You can pinpoint your exact reading. No more guess work. The only problem is the ink does wear off the syringes fairly fast and makes it harder to read.

I've always enjoyed the accuracy and granularity of measurement that the Salifert test kits provide. Although, I do generally despise the watching for a color change while dripping-and-swirling, it is not so bad with the Alk kit.

With some test kits, namely the Salifert Calcium kit, the color change seems to be a little more gradual, making it at times difficult to spot when the color changed. The Alk kit changes from blue to red in a much more noticeable fashion... so I never dread using this particular kit.

With the Salifert kits, you trade speed for the accuracy. So doing one of these tests (Alk and Calcium) takes a bit longer than doing one on a Hanna checker. However, the Hanna Alk checker reads high, so I use this Salifert kit as a sanity test every so often to "calibrate" my Hanna meter.

For some reason I just dont trust the Hanna checkers yet, i dont stray away from salifert. Sometimes the process is a pain but you just very accurate results, and that really all that matter.

As we all know, the easier a test kit is to use - the more apt we are to use it.

That being said, this kit makes KH testing a breeze. It literally takes longer for me to clean the syringes and test vial (ALWAYS with RO/DI water!) than it does to actually do the test!

My old salifert kit expired so I purchased another set. These sets last years and I test about 2-3 times a month. Since my last purchase time the test has changed and is easier. In about 5 minutes this test is ready to go. Much easier than other brand magnesium test kits as well.

Directions were very easy to follow and the test itself took no more than 5 minutes. I'm sure in the future it will be faster. Test itself was easier than other cheaper brands.
