Works perfectly as intended! By Zeph on 7/31/10

This will be lengthy, so for those who don't want to read it all, let's just start out by saying this pump is great, and did exactly what I wanted it to.
Let me describe my filtration setup before I go into why I chose to add this pump. I manage a shop at a used car lot and previously, we were spending some $60-70 a week to the "mobile-wash" guys to come by once a week and wash our inventory. Quite frankly, once a week wasn't often enough, and they don't do that great of a job anyway...they were just hooking onto our water supply and washing and drying cars. I wanted an economical way to do it ourselves, so I decided to put together our own wash truck, with a RO system and 275 gallon tank.
I'm so glad I discovered Bulk Reef Supply, I've saved so much time and money by being able to get almost everything I needed at one place! My first setup was a $100 cheapo ebay RO kit, which did the job, but had a lot of waste-water, was slow, and overall, not to my liking. I kept the kit though, and am now using it as a pre-filtration system to help my other filters last longer. So, I currently have: 25 micron sediment---10 micron carbon---1 micron sediment----ebay RO membrane (100gpd), the waste of which goes into the booster pump, then into: 1 micron sediment filter, 5 micron carbon, 1 +1, then into the two 150GPD RO membranes.
I basically have a "manual" flow restrictor on the waste line coming out of the second membrane. It's just a valve, that I more or less use to restrict the waste-flow to get the pressure I'm looking for. Before I added this booster pump, I had to slow the flow out of the waste line to a level I wasn't comfortable with to get the 55psi or so I was running at...I was getting an average 13 gallons per hour, or 312 gallons per day, not bad, but I decided for the health of my membranes, it would be worth the investment to get this booster pump so that I could have adequate flush water, and I'm really glad I did.
Now, with the pump running, I see 75psi with the valve almost all the way open. I have yet to get new output numbers because my tank was already almost full when I installed it and I don't wash again until Monday, but I can tell it's putting out water quite a bit faster! Overall, I'm very pleased with this aquatec pump and would recommend one for any larger volume, or low-input pressure RO system.
