He mentions RIGHT IN THE VIDEO that you can probably buy this kit cheaper if you have a hydro store local to you, and that the shipping is what kills you on price. I don't believe BRS is trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes here. I have like 5 hydro stores near me so if I buy something similar I will go there. No way I am going to badmouth BRS though.
DO THE MATH By Michael on 10/30/2013

Just like all the reviewers so far for this product I have not actually purchased it. However, I felt like in fairness to BRS somebody needed to actually do the math and figure out if this was a "rip-off" as everybody is suggesting.
Well, I went around to multiple large online botanical and hydroponics retailers and added up the cost of everything this kit comes with: the Botanicare tray, the FastFit stand, uprights, and lightbar, and the FastFit caster wheels.
Yes, it really is this expensive! You can yell at BRS for trying to markup products if you want, but they are actually selling this kit at a discount. If you go buy this kit from any other major online hydroponics retailer and then come back to BRS to buy the eggcrate you will spend more money. Period. You might be able to find similar products cheaper, but they won't be the same brand, or they will require tools for construction instead of the FastFit's "tool-less" build, so it's comparing apples to oranges. Stop the whining.

BRS has done it again! By combining a $60 cart, a $20 tub, and $5 of egg crate, they bring you... the $500 cart!!! Its magical! Not because it works well, but because it somehow deserves a 400% markup!

Umm... This is NOT making reefing affordable for everyone! The price of this thing is crazy. Anyone can set up a frag tank with lights and pumps for far less than this contraption.

Nice! But you can probably make your own for a lot cheaper seeing that its only a tray with some legs and a light bar on top. 50 bucks I bet

We suggest a T5 light fixture (sold separately). Add powerheads such as Hydor Koralia Evolution 1500 GPH and coral frag plugs
So that's all you need? This is the most ridicules thing I've ever seen. $500 for a plastic tub and a thin metal frame with $2.00 casters, and some egg crate. For that price they should come to my house and set it up with lights and corals. LOL.
What a joke.
