I've had inherited this pump used and I have been using it over 5 years without needing maintenance. The pump is loud but reduced to a hum when the stand doors are closed. The heat is disbursed by the fan. I recommend cleaning the air output of the fan once in a while to keep the pump cool. Absolutely a reliable pump. Bought one new for back up that is still never used.

Just received and installed this pump at first power up its considerably louder then the iwaki it is replacing but there are several things that should be considered before this is ruled bad. First it flows almost 200 GPH more then the iwaki also it has a fan where as the iwaki does not which I feel should make this a longer lasting and more efficient pump, And finally I will see in time my iwaki quitted down over time so i will see if this one does too.
