For the best bang for your buck, pukani rock cant be beat. very porous, lightweight, and u get what u pay for in weight - and not paying for the extra water weight of live rock

Great Rock By TheBigShizz on 2/13/13

I’m very impressed with this rock. I purchased 20 pound to help get the free shipping on my order. The rock has a very good area to weight ratio and is easy to mold with a hammer and screw driver. Gave some of my left over to a friend who is also impressed with dry rock, now.

Pukani rock looks great and allows you to aquascape outside the tank. My aquascape outside the tank never works out once I start placing the rock in the tank, you quickly realize the great $$ savings over live rock when you pull out a Pukani rock that has been in the tank for a while...way heavier!

So easy and looks wonderful By Frank on 2/13/13

This was a great value and much more cost effective than buying from a LFS and I saved nearly $3 per pound vs buying live rock. Since I was starting a tank, I purchased this rock weeks before I needed it and had it cured by the time I needed it. This rock is so easy to shape and interlocks well that I have no concerns about rocks falling. Finally, it looks beautiful...truly, my neighbors are astounded and think that I had a professional setup the reef...it was my first time...if I can do it, trust me...you can as I have no artistic skills at all, until now.

Pukani rock is a great buy but takes some effort! By Stephanie on 2/13/13

Ordered 60 lbs of this rock and have 40 more lbs on the way. Very porous, very beautiful but also has decaying life, like sponges but that is to be expected as this is from the ocean and is very porous. I did an acid bath and powerwashed most sponges off. Rock is very easy to chisel into amazing pieces. I was able to make tunnels, caves, and bridges using hammer, chisels, and a small rotary tool. Absolutely worth the work as this rock is so beautiful. Definitely won't be buying any other rock after this one. I will be testing for phosphates and adding lanthanum chloride if needed, do your research.

First I would like to say this is some great looking rock! Puts the rock from the LFS to shame! Seriously! I got exactly what I requested. However, I was a little disappointed with some the breakage on a couple nice pieces from shipment... inevitable I suppose. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Just ok By nano reef builder on 2/13/13

I recently ordered 20 pounds of Pukani rock and had requested one large rock. BRS did deliver on the size but the rock was quite dense and dull nothing like what they show on the videos. As this was a request from a client who has been watching the BRS videos he was not happy with the look and density of the rock and I spent the rest of the day driving across town to hand pick one large live rock from a local dealer. As this is a custom 360' view aquarium sitting in the center of his lobby he was set on using one large rock with minimal manipulation. I would recommend the Reef Saver Rock over the Pukani any day. I will most likely break the rock down into smaller more interesting shapes for another project. I did learned a valuable lesson. Clients don't know what they want until they see it. And don't count on getting the awesome example of Pukani rock they show on the video to be anything like what will be shipped to you.

Best looking stuff I've seen in an aquarium By Keith on 2/13/13

Before I ordered this I thought I would spend alot of time stacking etc. I originally ordered 100 pounds for two 72x24x18 tanks. I temporarly placed all of the rock in one of them. If were trying to fill the complete tank this amount pretty well filled the tank and it looked great without the water. Most of the rocks for my order (large tank) were 14" wide by a 10" high. I didn't have to stack anything.

Just got my order of 20lbs of Pukani and all I can say is I wish I started with this 2 years ago. 20 lbs was enough to fill about 30 gallons of tank space in my can for cycling process. I'm sure as porous as this rock is the bacteria growth will be awesome.

Love the Pukani - not the other thing By dtawahn on 2/13/13

We received the pukani rock after much research on the web. We enjoyed the videos and look of the rock and were excited when the 100lbs came in. I unloaded all the rocks and cured them for a month. However, there was one massive rock that didn't look anything like the rest. After moving them around and "aqua-scaping" I discovered it was a totally different rock from the rest. It was sharp and after some looking around at other fish stores, it seemed to be a 20lb lava rock. We now have a saltwater reef tank and cannot afford to have sharp rocks hurting our fish. The rest of the rock looks great and we are happy with it.

Great rock! By Vincent on 2/13/13

I wish I started out with this rock years ago. I had to restart my tank because the initial Live Rock contained coral eating nudibranchs that I could never full get rid of. This stuff not only looks 10x better than Fiji rock, it is lighter and much more porous. I only had to use 25 lbs in my 34 gallon nano, and I could have gotten away with much less! You save so much money going the Dry Rock route, and its free of pests.
I'll have to check on Phosphates over time, but so far so good. Both the Reef Saver and Pukani Rock are excellent choices.

excellent porous rock By iowareef on 2/13/13

I ordered 100 pounds of this rock the other day and recieved the following day without having to pay for additional overnight shipping (awesome). packaged well in 2 boxes with foam peanuts galore protecting the rock...took me forever to unpack the foam peanuts...lol. the foam peanuts were a good thing though as i had very minimal breakage during shipping. excellent specimens to use in my new 120 gallon reef....very porous so i imagine it will work well as a part of my biological filtration. i am seeding it now with 20 pounds of live rock that i got from a friend.
