The reviews here are spot on. It's fantastic rock and extremely porous. To give you an idea of how porous, I filled a 5 gallon bucket with this rock and then filled it with water... It still held over 4 gallons! A little bit goes a long way with this stuff - it's incredibly light compared to other dry rock and certainly live rock. If you have a nano tank, like I do, don't worry about the rock pieces not being small enough - a few hits with a hammer and the larger rock pieces will split into smaller ones.

HOWEVER, and this is the most important part, like ALL dry rock (not just BRS), it will leech phosphates for a while. I recommend soaking for a few days with a product called SeaKlear to remove phosphates from the outer layers.

Just got 35lbs of this, wow! Great rock. It is filled with crevasses, and will be great for placing difficult corals. Also, aquascaping is a breeze. In less than 1 minute you can come up with some awesome scapes. The pieces I got were huge and perfect for my new tank.

This is the best rock I ever seen. I order 30 lbs for my 36 gallon tank bowfront. U looks great on my tank. I was a little disappointed because they ship 1 huge rock lol ... I was expecting at least 2 big pieces, after I worked on it for 2 hours I got what I wanted, " probably was my fault cause I didn't specified what I wanted" @ the end of the day ... I'm very happy with the outcome :)

This stuff is definitely the way to go. Easy to fit and glue pieces together (I used silicon caulk to glue it). Easy to mill and cut. Since it is dry you can take all the time in the world to fit together a masterpiece aquascape. Shapes and texture are incredible to look at! So light that 250 lbs was enough for my 360 gal reef. Still giddy about finding this stuff !

Large, Showy Pieces that Exceeded Expectations By Ron on 2/13/13

I ordered 30 pounds, and received 5 unexpectedly large pieces that were clearly the fossil remains of ancient hard corals. However, they were very open and porous in structure, being relatively lightweight for their large size, while still very structurally sound.

I was actually expecting smaller pieces suitable for base rock, and wanted the open structure only for better biological filtering. But the pieces I received, once colonized by coralline algae and other reef life, would make show-quality live-rock for a large reef tank display.

I almost wish that I had specified when ordering that I wanted these for use under live rock in a smallish (75 gallons) tank, and thus gotten smaller pieces. These large pieces are far too nice to break up and use for base rock. I will probably save these for making a centerpiece reef in another, larger tank.

Order 25 pounds to redo my aquascape, and all I can say is wow. This rock is great, light, lots of holes and shapes and large pieces. I have tried all types of rock, fiji(Marco), tonga, puka and this stuff is better. You will not be disappointed, try a small amount if you are concerned and I guarantee you will be buying more.

This rock is the only way to go. Very light. I would say 1/2 lb per gallon would be a pretty good amount to build a reef. I asked for large pieces and got some the size of basketballs with hardly any rubble. I wish I would of known about BRS when I first started reefing. Spread the word.

I ordered 50 pounds of this rock. The order had large and medium sized pieces of all shapes. The rock was also nice and clean as advertised.

-Aquascaping this stuff is a joy. Although, you may need some reef epoxy due to it's porous nature. Because, I don't see drilling this stuff as an option for rod placement.

Over 12 years, I've purchased live/dry rock from various sources and have always been happy with the products. Well, I just didn't know any better. The BRS Pukani Dry Eco Rock is so much better than anything I've used. I never knew rock could be so light! I waited for a very long time to see this stuff in stock, and my patience was definitely rewarded.

This Pukani rock has the most shape and character of any rock I've purchased or seen (even better than the pics on the BRS website). It's like looking at the grain pattern of fine wooden furniture. Each piece has so much to appreciate on its own, which almost makes me feel guilty to think about gluing frags to the rockwork. It's just beautiful stuff, and I'm not going to use anything else in the future.

I received my Pukani Rock today and was very surprised at what I found. I recieved many large pieces as well as smaller pieces. To me it was the perfect mix of large and small for the amount of what I ordered. I ordered fifty pounds and it was all I needed to fill my 90 gallon and leave a little room for items to be placed on the sand if need be. I will be placeing another order soon for my 37 gallon.
