good trap, once i figured out the best way to use it. By Justin on 7/17/13

at first when dry testing the door did not seem to slide smoothly, and the pin to release it was on a hair trigger.
it was also larger than i was expecting, so i didn't have a good spot to put it in my tank. if the trap is not level the pin that drops the door tends to float out, since it is buoyant.
what i ended up doing was building a platform out of egg crate light diffuser that held on to the side and top of the aquarium rim that kept the trap perfectly level and suspended above the rock work. this was stable enough to keep the pin release from coming out before i wanted it to.
the door seems to also slide better once it is in the water and the whole rig has warmed up a bit. i think a little warming an expansion helped it.
once it was all set up, it was just a waiting game. as others have suggested, not feeding the tank for a day or so speeds up the process. i also did not use the included feed retention tube. by leaving that out i was able to have food floating all inside the trap, making it easier for the target fish to see, and lure him in.
all in all a good piece once i improvised a few details.

I have used this product a few times and works well to catch fish. I like the option of putting the cone traps instead of the vents. I also used this to separate and acclimate a leapord wrasse to other wrasses that were picking on it and it worked awesome.

Pull up a chair and spend some quality time with your tank. Solidly built and works like a champ!
Don't feed the fish for a couple of days before you use this and it will speed up the process.
