Product does work, however I had two of these in my tank and not quite sure what happened but the plastic piece in front of the blade came apart on both pumps after about 4 months of operation. I purchased two more and they are running fine. They keep everything suspended and provide good movement in the tank.

Not enough power/flow for a betta fish cup By Jeff on 5/3/13
Jeff wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
I purchased two of these so I can use the wave maker setting on my new reef keeper lite as it was a recommendation from BRS and I couldn't be more unhappy with them. They click to loud for my liking so I can only imagine the fish inside and they just don't have any flow to them. Sure if you stick your hand on the cage in front of them you can feel it but a few inches away they have nothing that you feel. I have them in a 29 gallon tank so I am sure that the recommendation came from simple mathematics but I am using them and one is sitting in a box as I grabbed an old one I had until I can buy new ones.
Please don't see this as a stab at BRS. They are the greatest people, great products and timely delivery. I have since purchased from them and continue to do so. Hydor has over rated their product

Everytime mine turns on it makes a bad grinding noise. It's done it since the first time it came on, I thought that was the point of the evolution line. I do have a 750 thats quit though.

You can't beat these pumps for the money. I would like to have to Eco Techs but I just can't part with the cash yet. One day I will then use these in another tank or in my RO/DI reservoir. Work great for now the fish love the current they create and they are whisper quite

Great Pump! By Chris on 3/26/13

Far superior to the maxi-jets I had in their before. Bought the 740 evo's for my 55g. Near silent, magnet mounts are incredibly better than suction cups and the indirect flow is nice. This will be the only pump I use from now on

Top Product out there for the price By Andy on 2/25/13
Andy would recommend this product to a friend
I had really junky powerheads from my LFS. Then I bought these, the 1400 model, along with the HYDOR wave Controller. They are great. I like them so much I am buying the Nano versions for my nano tank. The only reason I give them a 4 instead of a 5 is because they don't have the mechanism living outside of the tank so you still have that ugly powercord going into your tank. Other than that, They are perfect.

Great power head for the price! By Jeremy on 2/15/13
Jeremy would recommend this product to a friend
I use 2 of the 1050's in my 75g mixed tank. They look good on the sides of the tank and are able to to be angled in any direction. They function well and make no noise! (I do not run these on a wave maker though). The flow is strong and blows the brine shrimp I feed all over the tank and keep them suspended for several minutes. I love the really strong magnets and never had one move or fall off, and it is because of these.

I bout 4 550's to run on a wavemaker on my 40G breeder, To start with the start up click is lowed on all pumps and every time. The second thing is the flow, at 10" away the flow starts to die off quick at 15" away there is 0 flow.
I could not find much on the 550 and as I have a Hydor Koralia 2 600GPH from when they came out and still going strong I thought I would be safe...

Reliable, most of the time By David on 1/10/13
David would recommend this product to a friend
I've had Koralias for about four or five years now. They're great quality, but I've noticed that they sometimes start with reverse flow when I use a timer or wavemaker. I've heard that this flaw has been corrected recently, but I haven't followed up. I purchased a pump that does this on occasion approximately 9 months ago.
Other than that, broad flow and relatively compact. Good pump!

Whisper Quiet, love it By Randal on 12/16/12

The pump is not even noticeable and along with that it provides good flow to my 40 gallon breeder along with a large directional radius so I can aim it wherever i need flow. My only complaint is I wish the cable was longer.

Not what I was expecting By Michael on 11/30/12
Michael would recommend this product to a friend
This pump is very well made and the magnets are nice. Very quite. It does not have a narrow stream of fast moving water like most power heads. Instead it has a wide area of slow moving water which might be good for certain applications. I was expecting a traditional flow pattern.

I use one 750 in a 90g tank and can point it almost right at corals with out hurting the coral at all, while still preventing detritus from building up. The draw backs are the thin slots can get clogged, wont always flow in the right direction when turing them on, and start to break down after a while (about 2 years of running). For the price though i like them a lot and are great for starting tanks.

Worked good for a while. By Mike on 10/22/12
Mike wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
I bought 2 of these (750 Model) a while back to try as a wavemaker setup. They worked ok for a while but then started to run in reverse at different intervals and then to the point where they would always run in reverse. With them running in reverse it has caused the round part in the screen, in front, to break away on the both of them. If I turn them off, 9 times out of ten they start in reverse. So now I just try to leave them on all the time, when I use them. I am going to replace them with another brand.

Buy it. Seriously. By fissy guy on 10/17/12
fissy guy would recommend this product to a friend
I bought this pump (the 750 model) in March of this year. I was worried due to the cheap price that I would get cheap quality out of it. ...let me tell you, you can take it apart fully (which I have done several times for cleaning and inspecting, as I do with everything else in the tank), and it is still performing now almost 8 months later with just the same power it did on day one, and hasn't given out on me once. If it ever died, I would buy another in a heart beat.
Bottom line--- IT LASTS, and IT WORKS VERY WELL.

I bought 2 of these when I set up my first tank. Since then I have tried adding different brands over the years when I wanted extra flow but they all died or had issues while my original Koralias are still kicking with zero issues ever.
I take them out and bang them in the sink to remove bulid up and while I know I shouldn't, still they keep on blowing. They are silent and dont run hot which makes them perfect products.

Don't waste your money on suction cup pumps. By turtleghandi on 10/7/12
turtleghandi would recommend this product to a friend
I have both the 550 and the 1050 pumps. I got them to replace some cheap suction cup pumps that kept falling down. Both are working great. They have stayed right were I put them (thanks to the included magnet) and I don't detect any stray voltage in the tank. The packaging (on Hydor's part) could be a little better. The parts were just sort of rolling around in the boxes. Its not really a problem since none of them appeared to be damaged, but it makes them seem cheap and I could see how it might result in some damage during shipping.

Pro's - magnet is awesome, it is going nowhere. Unit is very quiet, I don't notice it turning on and off. The quality of the build should last.
Con - I have a 550 and even in a 34 gallon tank it is weak. I have a much smaller one that generates more current. A little unimpressed with it's power.

Good for the price, but there is a catch By Joshua on 9/3/12

I currently have 3 Evolutions, 2 of them work perfect and the other has to be "bump" started. The price is right compared to the next best thing, the Vortech. You can buy 10 of these for the price of 1 of those, so for the hobbyist, this is the way to go.

GOOD PUMPS FOR THE MONEY By Tom on 8/12/12
Tom would recommend this product to a friend
I bought these pumps because they were alot cheaper than others I looked at. They are a bit bulky in size but they work good. They are quiet, magnets are really strong. They are hard to adjust the angle of flow but they also stay at the angle you put them at so a good trade off. I also use them to stir my saltwater in my mixing bucket which they do really well at.

I was very skeptical when buying this pump because i had heard bad things about the older models, but this has worked great. I have had it for about 6 months and it has worked just fine. Super quiet and none of the clicking sounds that I have heard about. and moves a lot of water in my 40 breeder. I will definitely buy these in the future when I decide to add another to my tank.

Get what you pay for. By Matt on 7/4/12
Matt would recommend this product to a friend
These run almost half the cost of what I consider the reference standard pump for this role - but I think you get what you pay for. While the magnetic mount is nice for glass less than .5", I think the build is generally frail with bumpers to fall off and parts to wiggle loose during operation.
These pumps have a very wide flow without a very strong reach, not unlike the previous generation Korallias as well as Vortechs.

I have nine of these pumps acquired over the last three years. the magnetic attachment is wonderful with the ability to direct flow with ease and stability. They are all on wavemakers without problems. The earlier models had problems with bushings and cracking heads and rubber bumpers but the distributor was great in handling problems and the replacement parts have worked well

bought 3 of this 750 and after 1 week all 3 is having a hard time turning on.I always need to turn the propeller to start all 3. I was told that it is moving backward and a rubber bushing is stopping it from moving backward which can cause the pump to just get stop and be stuck.

Affordable, but you get what you pay for. By Jeremy on 5/24/12
Jeremy would recommend this product to a friend
I bought a 550 and 750, they worked fine day one, and moved water nicely. By day two the 750 was not turning on when the wavemaker would go on. I would have to help it get started. By day 4 the 550 was also giving me trouble. They were being run on a Red Sea Wavemaster Pro with the "Soft Start" function to reduce wear on pumps, but they began failing immediately. I switched them to timers to reduce the frequency of the on/off cycle, but the 750 completely quit working, and the 550 has to be on constantly or else the start up will be intermittent and unreliable. I have had hydor power heads in the past and they all worked great, even on the Wavemaster Pro, but these two have not. I believe I just got some "Lemons". If you need cheap water movement and don't need your pumps to cycle then go with these, but if you want to be able to cycle them on and off, I wouldn't recommend them.
