Worked good for a while. By Mike on 10/22/12

I bought 2 of these (750 Model) a while back to try as a wavemaker setup. They worked ok for a while but then started to run in reverse at different intervals and then to the point where they would always run in reverse. With them running in reverse it has caused the round part in the screen, in front, to break away on the both of them. If I turn them off, 9 times out of ten they start in reverse. So now I just try to leave them on all the time, when I use them. I am going to replace them with another brand.

Buy it. Seriously. By fissy guy on 10/17/12

I bought this pump (the 750 model) in March of this year. I was worried due to the cheap price that I would get cheap quality out of it. ...let me tell you, you can take it apart fully (which I have done several times for cleaning and inspecting, as I do with everything else in the tank), and it is still performing now almost 8 months later with just the same power it did on day one, and hasn't given out on me once. If it ever died, I would buy another in a heart beat.
Bottom line--- IT LASTS, and IT WORKS VERY WELL.

Over 3 years and still going By amber on 10/17/12

I bought 2 of these when I set up my first tank. Since then I have tried adding different brands over the years when I wanted extra flow but they all died or had issues while my original Koralias are still kicking with zero issues ever.
I take them out and bang them in the sink to remove bulid up and while I know I shouldn't, still they keep on blowing. They are silent and dont run hot which makes them perfect products.

Easy to install with good flow. I bought two to push water around my rock. Strong enough for LPS corals and not harsh on the fish.

Don't waste your money on suction cup pumps. By turtleghandi on 10/7/12
turtleghandi would recommend this product to a friend
I have both the 550 and the 1050 pumps. I got them to replace some cheap suction cup pumps that kept falling down. Both are working great. They have stayed right were I put them (thanks to the included magnet) and I don't detect any stray voltage in the tank. The packaging (on Hydor's part) could be a little better. The parts were just sort of rolling around in the boxes. Its not really a problem since none of them appeared to be damaged, but it makes them seem cheap and I could see how it might result in some damage during shipping.

Satisfactory for small tank By MJ's Custom Aquarium Water on 9/21/12

Pro's - magnet is awesome, it is going nowhere. Unit is very quiet, I don't notice it turning on and off. The quality of the build should last.
Con - I have a 550 and even in a 34 gallon tank it is weak. I have a much smaller one that generates more current. A little unimpressed with it's power.

I have two of these, one on each side toward the rear of the tank and they keep good flow throughout the tank. I supplement them with two nano powerheads on the sides toward the front of the tank. Corals are thriving and growing well.

Good for the price, but there is a catch By Joshua on 9/3/12

I currently have 3 Evolutions, 2 of them work perfect and the other has to be "bump" started. The price is right compared to the next best thing, the Vortech. You can buy 10 of these for the price of 1 of those, so for the hobbyist, this is the way to go.

GOOD PUMPS FOR THE MONEY By Tom on 8/12/12
Tom would recommend this product to a friend
I bought these pumps because they were alot cheaper than others I looked at. They are a bit bulky in size but they work good. They are quiet, magnets are really strong. They are hard to adjust the angle of flow but they also stay at the angle you put them at so a good trade off. I also use them to stir my saltwater in my mixing bucket which they do really well at.

great pump! By Brandon on 8/7/12

I was very skeptical when buying this pump because i had heard bad things about the older models, but this has worked great. I have had it for about 6 months and it has worked just fine. Super quiet and none of the clicking sounds that I have heard about. and moves a lot of water in my 40 breeder. I will definitely buy these in the future when I decide to add another to my tank.

Get what you pay for. By Matt on 7/4/12
Matt would recommend this product to a friend
These run almost half the cost of what I consider the reference standard pump for this role - but I think you get what you pay for. While the magnetic mount is nice for glass less than .5", I think the build is generally frail with bumpers to fall off and parts to wiggle loose during operation.
These pumps have a very wide flow without a very strong reach, not unlike the previous generation Korallias as well as Vortechs.

I have nine of these pumps acquired over the last three years. the magnetic attachment is wonderful with the ability to direct flow with ease and stability. They are all on wavemakers without problems. The earlier models had problems with bushings and cracking heads and rubber bumpers but the distributor was great in handling problems and the replacement parts have worked well

avoid this one By Edmund on 6/11/12
Edmund wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
bought 3 of this 750 and after 1 week all 3 is having a hard time turning on.I always need to turn the propeller to start all 3. I was told that it is moving backward and a rubber bushing is stopping it from moving backward which can cause the pump to just get stop and be stuck.

Affordable, but you get what you pay for. By Jeremy on 5/24/12
Jeremy would recommend this product to a friend
I bought a 550 and 750, they worked fine day one, and moved water nicely. By day two the 750 was not turning on when the wavemaker would go on. I would have to help it get started. By day 4 the 550 was also giving me trouble. They were being run on a Red Sea Wavemaster Pro with the "Soft Start" function to reduce wear on pumps, but they began failing immediately. I switched them to timers to reduce the frequency of the on/off cycle, but the 750 completely quit working, and the 550 has to be on constantly or else the start up will be intermittent and unreliable. I have had hydor power heads in the past and they all worked great, even on the Wavemaster Pro, but these two have not. I believe I just got some "Lemons". If you need cheap water movement and don't need your pumps to cycle then go with these, but if you want to be able to cycle them on and off, I wouldn't recommend them.
