Best Option For Hanging Rock Work By Jeff on 6/1/13
Jeff would recommend this product to a friend
Of all the dry live rocks readily available online, I think BRS single-branch and simple multi-branch are the best options if you want to make base structures for a hanging aquascape without spending too much on customized setups (ex: ceramic).
For my 125-gallon display with a deep sand bed, I made base structures by fusing BRS Tonga branches. 5 of these pieces support the rest of the rock work which hangs over the 4-inch sand bed.
For my order, I had a list of preferences (ex: length, thickness, shape, etc.) in the notes section. BRS fulfilled all of my criteria and I am very happy with how my rock work turned out.

10pds of tonga simple multi branch By Michael on 6/1/13
Michael would recommend this product to a friend
Don't let the sample pics fool you, these pieces are huge. Ten pounds delivered me 4 pieces well over 10"' long with branches thick as 1 inch. Also received a 5"-6" piece similar to a piece of complex multi branch. Will defiantly add a nice to touch to my tank. Very impressed with BRS!!.

I ordered some of the single branch and got the bottom of the barrel and was very unhappy, BRS replaced the branch at no charge and it was some amazing, beautiful branch. Very happy and satisfied! will do more business in the future again for sure! thank you very much!

Huge branches By Steve on 4/12/13

Ordered only a few pounds of tonga to accent pukani and was surprised by the large size as I was expecting thin brittle pieces. Lfs had tonga for 4 x the cost and didn't look nearly as good.

this stuff is heavy, but it gives the aquarium a unique look. I ordered 15 pounds and got 4 nice pieces. I probably should have gotten more. I used this as a supplement to my dry rock. Fast and very reasonable shipping.

I am setting up a new tank and ordered 10lbs of this to suppliment my initial layout of fiji... This was my first order from BRS, and I am very impressed. Packed extremely well, no broken peices. They gave me 2 large pieces with beautiful porous branches. It goes well against a fiji base. Will order more of this later.

Great rock By Colin on 1/16/13

I ordered the simple multi branching and got some great looking rock. It's a great mix of overall smooth and a couple pieces of twisted, gnarly looking rock. I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to incorporate it into my aquascape yet, but it should make it a lot more interesting!

I ordered the simple multi branch rock and it is far from simple. I love the encrusted shells and great shape. It is a great piece to the aquascape.

Loved this Rock By Christine on 11/20/12

The pieces we got were awesome. I ordered all the rock for my tank from BRS and was able to make a great build. With the tonga, there were a few pieces that broke off, but I easily put them back together with some epoxy. The piece was so exquisite and intricate though that I do not think it could have been shipped any other way. They bubble wrap it and everything. I was a little nervous since this is the first time I was ordering rock from BRS, but I have no regrets and was 100% satisfied. I don't think I could have ever found pieces like this anywhere else and I am very picky. It was a great selection.

One of a kind By Subodh on 10/20/12

I ordered a large 20+" large BRS Tonga live rock and boy, was it beautiful! So beautiful that my local LFS wanted to come by and help me aquas-cape for free. I also ordered a large 20"+ shelf which was beautiful but so big that I had to take a hammer and break it. The complex multi branch is kinda misfit in the sense its still almost like a tree branch with a few divisive branches. As someone said in the reviews above, if your intention is to make a wall, these are not the best pieces to do it. These pieces look more like tree branch(es) that set your aquas-cape apart from every other aquarium out there. Very nice, clean, white, heavy but porous rock with no pests in it. I say no pests because the rock was so clean I put it directly into my tank with other live rock in it. I don't suggest you do that but its telling about how sparkling and good quality the rock comes in. I wish there was a way I could upload pictures or at least link to the pictures in here to show what a great buy this is.
I have one peeve though. Thank you BRS guys for packing the rock so well, it could have survived an earthquake! Nothing was broken but there were so many packing peanuts I had to use two weeks worth of recycle collection schedules for disposing them off. I don't really know if I should blame you guys for protecting my precious rock or blame California for their stupid recycling limits. :) But seriously, so much protection for a piece of dry rock? :)
Overall, this is a great product for those who want to introduce arches, tree like branches or just somethign different than plain simple stacking. would definitely recommend if you're into open aqua-scaping rather than croud-scaping.

I have bought tonga from BRS twice and every time the rock was beautiful and just what I ordered. The rock was heavy but porous and was perfect to aquascape hills, caves or just really cool structures.

i had ordered 10 pounds of the complex muti branch and i must say, it wasnt very complex, it looks alot more like the simple multi branch which isnt exactly what i was going for, i was expecting more of a few small branches with a unique pattern and received more or less a log of tonga. overall i made it work, not to crazy about it but it doesnt look terrible. this would be a great addition to a large aquarium with a decent amount of space in it, keep in mind it is near impossible to aquascape around it and make it look realistic. tonga is a great addition by itself for a unique look.

Good rock. Different. Heavy By Sp on 8/31/12
Sp would recommend this product to a friend
This rock arrived well packaged with no broken pieces.
It allows for rocks scraping utilizing negative space and making interesting tunnels and caves for fish. If you are trying to stack rock, make tall islands, or make a wall, this is not the rock for you. I think people try and stack and fit pieces tightly together and get frustrated. Look at the pukani or reef saver if that is your goal.
It is heavy- equivalent in weight to gulf live rock.

I ordered about 20lbs and the rock arrived in great shape. I got some large and interesting structures with multiple braches. The rock is extremely porous so should work great for filtration. It is a little heavy but not excessively. Overall, this is a great product for branch rock lovers.

I ordered some of all three types as well as one large piece. The pictures here are fairly accurate. They didn't look exactly like the photos but the general concept is there. Most people are certainly going to want the muti and complex branch, I don't know what I am going to do with the singles. Stuff is pretty heavy and dense so consider that when ordering. I am not really sure how I am going to use these pieces but they are really interesting. The large one i am going to use in my fish only system, this will add some structure while leaving a maximum amount of swimming area. They were packaged really well but you could tell some of the arms had broken off prior to shipping (there were no broken fragments in the box) . My guess is this is inevitable during transport from tonga to the states and why they sell the single branches. Only reason I gave it four stars is I think most people who are using rock like this have a really good idea of what they want and without seeing it in person it is hard to know what you are going to get like you can at a store. Guess I would still prefer the mystery rather than pay $10 a pound at the fish store. Paying $100 for a 10 pound rock is pretty hard. While I have a store around here that does have a few pieces on hand it isn't like they have a large selection anyways.

I was skeptical ordering online because of not being able to see it first. I ordered a little to give it a try but I was dissappointed. Pieces arrived with most braches broke off, not what I was hoping for.
