I had high phosphates around 1. This is the first gfo I have used and based on my present experience and those of others, I won't be changing anytime soon. That goes for the gfo as well which holds up well and the water out of the reactor is still less than the tank itself after 2 weeks. Keep in mind this is the first time I ran a phosphate remover in the 6 years of the tank. The hc gfo is great for these situations where there is real severe phosphate problems. It does great in a single reactor and perfect if your tank is under 125 gallons. With the regular gfo and lets say a 150 you would have to go with brs' jumbo reactor. I wish it was cheaper but you get what you pay for.

This stuff really works my phosphate was at 0.83 and it dropped it over night to 0.24 that is really a sign that this product really works. I have used other products and nothing ever came close to this. A little expensive but this goes to show you you get what you pay for!!!!

Now that my tank is established and I'm slowly introducing different livestock I noticed that the zoanthids stopped opening up. I read online and the blogs were saying that high phosphate levels in the water would stop the zoanthids from opening. I purchased 3.5 Pounds Bulk GFO High Capacity Ferric Oxide and a reactor from BRS and within a week of having the GFO filtering the water the Zoanthids started to open. Now a month later the Zoas are in full bloom and look amazing.

I have used many GFO products, and this one seems to hold its own. I do not have to change the media in my reactor nearly as often to keep low phosphate levels in my tank with this product. Buy in bulk and save!

Purchased this for our 180 gal SPS dominant/fish heavy aquarium along with the Hanna meter. Added in 1 C of this stuff to our Warner Marine reactor (BRS calculator rec'd 1.44 C) but I wanted to start low so as to not freak out the corals. In about 36 hours, PO4 went from 0.58 to 0.26. Any small amounts of red cyano or green that were on the rocks or glass are going away! Going to up the dosage today or tomorrow to get ALL the PO4 outta there! Wonderful product. I have tried Two Little Fishes before, and it worked OK, but I think this product is so much better and for the price/amount you get, you can't beat it. Going to add it to our 24 gal JBJ nano as a precautionary. Thank you BRS!!

I personally found GFO HC is better than regular GFC. With the same amount, it seems to get rid of the cyano I have, while regular GFO just stop the cyano from spreading but not totally destroying it.

I wasn't sure about using this instead of the regular GFO, but when you figure that you only have to use half as much it is worth the price difference. According to the reef calculator I would have had to use almost 4 cups of the regular stuff for my 240G. So I decided to get the HC GFO with a deluxe standard size reactor instead of the jumbo. Also the fines seemed to clear much quicker.

I used to use Rowaphos which worked great. However for the price and performance Bulk Reef Supply high capacity GFO works better in my reactor and last longer and is cheaper that Rowaphos. Will never go back to the more expensive stuff.

My dad always told me YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, and yes this is one of those products thats may cost more then the typical phosphate remover but this works wonders, i swear i have a huge tank and barely do any water changes and its all because of this BRS HIGH CAPACITY GFO, even when i think i went to long with a water change I check my levels and they are still at zero! This is an unbelievable product that i believe is a must have for anybody with a reactor!

I was very happy with the overall performance of the GFO media in my BRS reactor. With in a few short hours I noticed a difference in my tanks overall appearance including polyp extension and general water clarity. With in a few days I noticed a decrease in algae build up on the glass and a reduction in algae on newly established live rock.

Definitely a satisfied customer on this product but in comparison to the other GFO products Im not sure on the higher price level. It seems quite a bit higher than the other granules but I have not had the oppurtunity to sample the differences yet to truly evaluate the cost/qty/performance benefits.

For me, this high capacity GFO really does last twice as long as regular the regular GFO. This allows me to change it every two months instead of monthly on my 210g reef system.

I just bought the one gallon to try it out. I'm impressed already. While rinsing, this GFO isn't like others. There is WAY less dust and fines that come off it. The rinsing water didn't turn a thick brownish red color like it does with other GFOs.

I don't have issues with PO4 right now, so I'll repost later. We'll see how good this HC GFO works at keeping PO4 low (I'm sure I will good success with it).

This media is the best out there. Why would you not get the HC ferric oxide. It does double what all the other ferric oxides do with less media. I have already noticed that there is less algae on the glass.

I have been using the BRS HC GFO for almost a month now and I absolutely love it. The granules seem pre-rinsed as they are so clean. The pellets would require 3-5 gallons of rinsing prior to go in my reactor while this HC stuff rinises with less than a gallon of water (and thats for 1lb of media) Two thumbs way up!!!!!

I highly prefer the HC GFO over any other product. I also prefer it in the simplicity reactor. It's easy and fast to clean and change. I thought I got a good deal on a group buy (from another vendor) for the normal GFO but it was a complete waste of money and time compared to the HC GFO that BRS sells. The cheap GFO bound up into a solid mass in short order and wound up leaving orange dust on everything in my system.

Find the High Capacity GFO to work very well. It's a little harder to get it to lift up in the reactor but that also keeps it from floating as easily as the standard GFO.

Compared the GFO's available from BRS and I chose the High Capacity because it is more effecient. Less residue and longer lasting granuals that will not break down in my media reactor. Worth the extra money.
