The best gfo by far. Worth the extra money from tge regular gfo to the high capacity

Just added GFO in my new BRS dual reactor .Works just as they said it woud .Great product and great veideo to help set up with the tubling of GFO.

I have used both regular and HC GFO. I went with the cheaper regular last time and have regretted it. I highly recommend this product it lasts longer and requires less product to sufficiently do the job.

I have used this twice on an off over a number of years, I had a pretty bad hair algae issue and I tried everything, after months of extracting and using phosphate removal stuff, I couldn't get rid of the algae. After adding this back in it took a little while, though no more algae.

I still get the green hue on the glass, though it takes longer now before it appears.

I am using a brand new 6 stage BRS RO/DI unit with 150gpd upgrade and booster pump. Yet, I still get a light brown/green haze on the glass daily. I only feed frozen Mysid and Frozen Formula 1 every other day making sure not to over feed. With the exception of shrimp to the BT Anenome and and DT's to the corals. No hair algae or anything bad but that dang haze. Well Folks! No More! I added BRS High capacity GFO (by BRS Calculator) in the BRS GFO reactor and it was cleared by the next day! Actually it's been 3 days and I just went over the glass and really still didn't need it. Awesome Stuff! I only regret not adding this day 1.

I don't know why I didn't use this stuff sooner. Algae was growing faster than we could remove it. Instead of enjoying our reef tank it was becoming a burden. My phosphates were always on the high side but changing our feeding practices and adding cheato to the sump never seemed to substantially change the high readings.

I set up a reactor and added High Capacity GFO from BRS. The phosphate readings dropped markedly but the algae stuck around. It was less prolific and pale looking but it was still there. So, on the advice of a fellow reefer, we obtained a sea hare and let it go to work. After 3 weeks virtually all my algae was gone. We added a fresh batch of GFO to the reactor my readings stayed where I want them at about .04 and there's no resurgence of algae. It's been over 6 weeks with no trace algae and my corals have more color to them. Hopefully, we have this licked.

When I consider all the work we went through prior to this I don't know why we dragged our feet implementing GFO to our system. BTW, no sea hare was harmed in the removal of the algae. Once there was no more algae to consume our LFS gladly gave us store credit for the returned sea hare.

I strongly recommend this product!!! And i strongly recommend BRS they have excellent customer service!!

Use this in a BRS Reactor and it works perfect, i use less than the amount needed and it still keeps my phosphates down

Need to get your phosphates back in check? This is definitely a fix then. The key to using this GFO is to be regular in changing it and the correct flow through your reactor. A light wave in the surface of the media and changing it out after about 2 weeks works wonders for my tank. Thanks BRS for another great media!

Like most reefers, I use BRS because it's the best when it comes to a whole slew of aquarium parts/additives/equipment. The prices are right, the products are great, blah blah blah.

But I was/have been a little disappointed by this Ferric Oxide - High Capacity. The reasons being two fold...I think that there is a lot more dust and residue in the batch than can be rinsed out with a reasonable amount of water. The result is that your reef is cloudy for a day or two, and the skimmer pulls out what I'd consider to be A LOT of ferric oxide from the water column over the next 2-3 days. Some of you might be thinking "turn down the flow in the reaction chamber", but enough flow to make the ferric oxide tumble is enough to make the tank cloudy with the stuff (even after rinsing).

My second gripe with the product is that it forms itself into a solid block inside the reaction chamber that is really tough to remove. And the flow is not too low either because as I see flow going down I increase the power of the MJ 1200 with a valve and the stuff still forms a brick in the reactor.

Granted, like most things, it's cheaper to get it on BRS than say getting rowaphos, but I like this product better for my tank.

Still I gave 3 stars because it kept phosphates at 0, just the other two factors matter a lot to me. I know for a fact that it's not good for clams to filter ferric oxide out of the water. I almost lost a deresa clam because I didn't rinse my rowaphos once.

This is a much cleaner, longer lasting GFO than the other standard one that BRS offers. Yes it is more expensive but you get a lot more lifetime out of it and I think there is less tumbling that grinds the GFO particles into smaller pieces and eventually dust. Also out of the box after filing up the reactor there is less dirty water coming out of the reactor which is a plus.

I just started using this product. Easy to add to BRS reactor. Flushes quickly and doesn't have much fines.

Will review again after further use.

Although a bit pricy, the High Capacity GFO really does out perform any other Phosphate removal media i have used.

The high capacity GFO is simply the best. Must less fines and easily flows in the reactor. Nice Phosphate drop as well.

This product works great and has helped reduce the problems i had with water quality. I like that BRS has videos to help make the purchasing decision easier.

This product is little pricey but its great for the tank if you are trying to keep those phosphates in check.

This stuff will completely wipe out your algae problems. I have cut back on the recommended amounts just to give my snails something to do. Ha.

High capacity gfo is great. You may pay more but you use less and it doesnt take long to rinse either.

I strongly recommend this product if you need the best performance. It's working great, my tank looks much clean now.

My first impression of this stuff was that it didn't take very long to clean out the "dust" or whatever it is. I put it in my BRS reactor without sponges and ran water through it into my bucket. In the past, this has taken a few gallons to run clear. I think it was about a gallon with the HC GFO. It seems to be doing its job too.

This product has been a great help in my fight against algae. I saw a marked difference in the amount of algae after starting GFO.

Switched from using Phos ban like this alot more will def be used at all times in my system

This stuff works but with a outbreak of green hair algae and my rock leaching phosphate it depleted it far faster then I thought it would. My phosphate is 0 now thanks to this GFO but it was very costly, I would recommend normal outpt GFO if your phosphate is high like mine was, as it will still deplete quickly, just cost less in normal capacity.

I had noticed a minor outbreak of cyano in my tank a month before ordering the high capacity GFO. Even though a phosphate check from a salifert kit said there was no detectable phosphates I went ahead and installed the high capacity GFO in a BRS reactor because ammonia, nitrite and nitrate were all 0 during the cyano outbreak. Within 48 hours of the high capacity GFO on the system there was a real notable difference. The cyano was still there but instead of that classic red, thick and slimy looking appearance, it changed to a dull grey, transparent, and fragile characteristic. It really looked like it was starved to death. Too early to say what its doing to keep algae in check, but this is definitely a must for anyone with any cyano related issues.

Great product, is a little more expensive but well worth it in the end. would recommend this to anyone trying to keep control of phosphates.

I've tried several brands of GFO and this is by far the best yet, produces no fines at all when tumbled at the correct rate and has lasted twice as long as the regular GFO so far with no need to change media out yet.

Running this High Capacity in my dual BRS reactor and it keeps my Phosphate near or at zero. Me and my corals love it.....I have no nuisance algae and my tank looks great!

Go with the High Capacity, less dust and lasts long. Great product.

This GFO cleans up good, Between this and R.O.X. my numbers dropped to 0 all across the board. LFS actually said my water was too clean. Dont take that as a bad thing, just had to cut back a bit and get used to using a superior product. It may cost a bit more but it last LONGER as it is WAY MORE efficient! Cant beat it.

Ive been buying my GFO from my local aquarium store but the quality was not nearly as good as the BRS HC. The stuff I used to buy had very small fines that would end up in my refugium. BRS HC has the perfect size grains and after a quick rinsing they don't end up anywhere but where there suppose to be, in the reactor plus I don't have to use as much. I highly recommend the BRS HC feric oxide and will continue to use it as long as I have a reef aquarium

Best GFO on the market IMO. Have it running in a filter bag in my AquaClear 110 HOB power filter. It's working wonders.

Got the GFO high capacity about 2 or 3 months ago seems to have made a decent dent in algae growth. I also cut my light cycle down by a couple hours so I don't know if that helped. I also have read that it takes several months to really start working. Overall satisfied with the product

In my experience, the high capacity GFO produced far fewer fines than the regular capacity. I use less and less each time, and am down to a tablespoon on my 20 long, which is good for 3+ weeks feeding 1/4 - 1/3 cube of frozen per day. From what I've read, it also holds up to regeneration better since it is much more dense. I've yet to regenerate any of my GFO yet since I use so little, so I can't speak from experience.

so far so good I got it tumbling in a dual brs reactor next to rox carbon on a 72 bowfront its been about a week now so I am not going to rate preformance a five yet but like I said so far so good... I will try to remember to post another review in about a month..

Workz great with the brs gfo reactor in less than 5 days my phosphates are 0. Over priced but I guess you pay for quality.

Oh my lord !!! This is by far the best GFO available to the market. Very low dust.....like 1 or 2 rinse and I'm done. And the Phosphate.....what phosphate ? I mean yes it's on the pricy side but hey....no compromise with all those corals in the Tank.

Good stuff, a little expensive, but if you want to clear up a phoshate problem will worth the money!

Something I have never been able to achieve in my reef tank is 0 phosphates. Adding this in to my dual BRS reactor has made it possible. Corals are growing at a much faster rate now and the tank is looking crystal clear! Just wish the GFO wasn't so expensive, but it is well worth it and as you keep using it the less you will need.

I use GFO and ROWA. Both work just as well as far as my water tests are concerned. I go with which ever one is a better value.

I have a GHA problem so I decided to get this to help with the problem. With my 30g nano This jar will go a long way!
