works ok. i run it in 2 reactors for my 300. feed responsibly and I still have some phosphate. A little on the pricey side IMO for how it performs

Works great if dosed responsibly, BRS has a great calculator. I accidentally used too much and it turned my tank very cloudy.

Great customer service and fast shipping. As the product itself is good but very slow process. Overall good product and addition to the reef environment if you are having algae problems.
A fair deal on a reef maintenance staple By raysun on 10/14/2013

At $22.00 for a pound, it's hard to argue the price for standard capacity GFO. It comes packed dry and pretty much dust free so media changes are easy. Little if any residue rinses out when first loaded into a media reactor or filter bag. (Contrast RowaPhos, for example, a fine product too, but it seems to emulate the Mississippi river for brown flow when first rinsed.)
To maintain my LPS tanks at their current low phosphate levels, this does the trick. When levels rise to 0.05 ppm, I change the media. Within hours phosphate levels drop to undetectable.
If I had a big phosphate problem, I'd consider springing for the High-Capacity (and high-cost) GFO to get more phosphate removal between changes. Large bio-loads, heavy feeding, or new rock that leaches phosphate might weigh into that decision.
At a recommended usage rate of 1 tablespoon per 4 gallons of aquarium water, large aquariums would use a fairly large dose of this stuff. 100 gallon tank would use just shy of 1 1/4 cups per media change - a bit more than 12 media changes for a gallon of GFO. Really large setups will probably benefit from using the HC GFO.

A great value for use in reducing phosphate levels. Water quality has steadily improved in multiple large reef tanks with heavy fish loads. Corals love it.

Good product. Not great. expires quickly if you have a phosphate issue.1 week tops until a change out is due if you already have GHA. This product may work great for a low nutrient established tank with a fuge, killer skimmer, and methodical husbandry. I don't own a killer skimmer, (its stock on my 25 gallon Ecoxotic cube), nor do I utilize a refugium. My husbandry is anal-retentive. Therefore I rate this product a 3 out of 5. I am now changing it out weekly until it runs out. Afterwards I will stick with Rowaphos or try BRS high capacity. Either way, I will report back with informative comments. I will always buy from BRS because of their products, website design, and most importantly their relative and educational videos.
