Purchased this a couple of years ago when it was sold in bag form and it's a solid performer. Performs just like the big brands at a fraction of the price.

Great product! I will be buying more of this! By Chris on 5/10/11

I bought this due to it's phenominally low price, and was a little hesitant. It turned out to be an excellent product, and easily performs as well as the higher priced brand name types. I plan to buy more, as soon as I need it. It doesn't require a ton of rinsing, and if you use half the recommended dosage, but change it out twice as often, I've found it works better at reducing algae, and keeps the system more stable. Thanks, BRS!

Cuts down that Phosphate By Jetthril on 3/30/11

Unlike most other folks would use this product in a reactor, I used this product in a media bag. Be sure to rinse out the dust before use. Due to the fact that the GFO bunches up after getting wet, I would recommend using less than what the calculator on this website recommends and change the media more frequently (not every 8 weeks), that way you water can more easily flow through the media, and the GFO can more easily take out the phosphate in the water.

Works great in a Freshwater Planted Tank By Duane on 3/20/11

I first of all borrowed some GFO from a fellow reefer to use in my Planted FW Discus 90gal. I was having a terrible time with algae. I followed the directions on the BRS "Information" page and set up a reactor with the GFO. Within a few days, my Phosphate level went for a 2ppm to a .5ppm. The GFO helps maintain the Phosphates at a acceptable level. It does not zero the phosphates out because my substrate leaches phosphates into the water and I want low level phosphates to aid in plant growth. So I have found this stuff works perfectly for me. So I purchased my own BRS GFO, which is a much better buy than the name brand. Thanks BRS!

Best GFO on the market By Rick on 3/17/11

Don't be fooled by other "branded" GFO, this one works, and works well. I've used it for years and test 0.0 PO4!

Effective GFO By Michael on 3/17/11

I have a 100 gallon heavily stocked SPS tank. The BRS Granular GFO is by far the best cost saving choice and maintains phosphate at nearly zero as well as any of the name brand GFO. I've tried many of the different types on the market and have observed no difference in coral growth and calcification. It is an effective GFO at a fraction of the cost. Keep in mind that running GFO is reported to knock down magnesium levels. You may need to order the magnesium supplements from BRS and a test kit to maintain your levels. Another option is to run GFO sporadically to knock down the phosphate levels and reduce amount you feed. For best results start running GFO with a new tank.

What can I say about the GFO? it works as described and extremely fast. The cost is super cheap compared to other brands and way more then enough to last for months. Great job BRS!
