Maybe i'm the only one who was confused, but in case there are others out there who might benefit from this.
My confusion: The tutorial video told me to mix 2 cups of this soda ash with 1 gallon of filtered or RO/DI water, great. But then when I use the Reef Calculator and selected Dry Soda Ash, it said to use "... approx X tsp..." huh? confused.
I then called the customer service number below and asked for #2 technical support and guess who I got? Reid form all the videos, pleasantly surprised to get a familiar voice :-) He explained to me that after mixing 2 cups, what I end up with is "Recipe 1 Alkalinity Solution (Soda Ash)". So that's what I want to pick from the drop down on the reef calculator. This made a whole lot of sense now!
So e.g. in my case, I would "Need: 186.1 ml; 6.2 fl oz; 37.2 tsp" And with my doser which does about 1ml per minute, if I set it to do 1 min per hour, then 186 ml / 24 hours = ~7.75 days.

I was hesitant to do the mixing myself. This was easy to mix. Watch the video first and it helps make the mixing easier.

I use this product together with BRS sodium bicarbonate to help with keeping my ph stable. Works great and watching the demo videos explains the proper mixture.

Pure alkalinity, easy to use By Richard on 7/30/2011

This product mixes easily with low clumping, and the support from BRS makes it easy to make your solution and easy to dose using the Reef Calculator. My only comment is that the BRS soda ash is not as potent as raising pH as other sources I have tried. For most people thats a good thing, I could use a slightly stronger pH lift. But no matter, the price and value of this product are excellent.
reliable and effective By Alan on 6/4/2011

Like with BRS's other additives, the volume savings and the quality of the product makes it a matter of common sense to use theirs. I was comfortable with the other ones but this does the exact same thing for less.

I use this solution to increase alkalinity in my 200 gallon system with a calcium reactor. I have trouble with p.h. and alkalinity levels. The sodium carbonate(soda ash) solution helps with both problems at the same time. Use the sodium bicarbonate for tanks with a higher p.h.

Title says it all. Be sure to have a slow dosing method with the alk solution to prevent precipitate. I use a large syringe on drip, but their dosing meter is a great value.
The price is killer for what you get!

Replace those expensive 2 part Ca / buffer systems with this and CaCl2 (instructions on BRS) and save $$$ while maintaining a healthy reef system
