Mixing your own two part solution is more economical. BRS products make it easy and less expensive.

Started using it with a BRS 2 part doser and couldn't be happier. Fantastic value without all the additional marketing premiums that get added onto the same stuff in a prettier package.

Maybe i'm the only one who was confused, but in case there are others out there who might benefit from this.
My confusion: The tutorial video told me to mix 2 cups of this soda ash with 1 gallon of filtered or RO/DI water, great. But then when I use the Reef Calculator and selected Dry Soda Ash, it said to use "... approx X tsp..." huh? confused.
I then called the customer service number below and asked for #2 technical support and guess who I got? Reid form all the videos, pleasantly surprised to get a familiar voice :-) He explained to me that after mixing 2 cups, what I end up with is "Recipe 1 Alkalinity Solution (Soda Ash)". So that's what I want to pick from the drop down on the reef calculator. This made a whole lot of sense now!
So e.g. in my case, I would "Need: 186.1 ml; 6.2 fl oz; 37.2 tsp" And with my doser which does about 1ml per minute, if I set it to do 1 min per hour, then 186 ml / 24 hours = ~7.75 days.

I was hesitant to do the mixing myself. This was easy to mix. Watch the video first and it helps make the mixing easier.

Pure alkalinity, easy to use By Richard on 7/30/11
Richard would recommend this product to a friend
This product mixes easily with low clumping, and the support from BRS makes it easy to make your solution and easy to dose using the Reef Calculator. My only comment is that the BRS soda ash is not as potent as raising pH as other sources I have tried. For most people thats a good thing, I could use a slightly stronger pH lift. But no matter, the price and value of this product are excellent.

Like with BRS's other additives, the volume savings and the quality of the product makes it a matter of common sense to use theirs. I was comfortable with the other ones but this does the exact same thing for less.

I use this solution to increase alkalinity in my 200 gallon system with a calcium reactor. I have trouble with p.h. and alkalinity levels. The sodium carbonate(soda ash) solution helps with both problems at the same time. Use the sodium bicarbonate for tanks with a higher p.h.
