I've always used whatever was the cheapest carbon I could find off the shelf of my LFS for my freshwater tank, but starting a salt tank I decided to upgrade to the ROX carbon and I'm glad I did. It works so well to keep the water crystal clear. I loved it so much I started running it in my 90gal freshwater tank and the water has never been that clear. Gave it 4 stars on the value just because the cost is quite a bit steeper than traditional carbon but the performance make up for the cost.

Replaced marineland carbon and am using about half the marineland dose yet the water is still clearer. The size of the particles is tiny but it must make it work much better. The small size also allows it to fluidize at a much lower flow rate.

At first I was thinking 22 bucks for 1.5 pounds? That's crazy! But if you look, it only requires 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons. I added this to my tank that was slightly cloudy, yellowish tint. in less than 24 hours the water was more clear than I've seen.... and this was on a tank with no skimmer or other filtration other than water changes and live rock.

I can't recommend this enough.

In my early days of reefing I used whatever cheap carbon was available. When I started learning more about water quality I began using seachem carbon and was happy with the improvements. I bought my first rox 0.8 and the next day I noticed an even greater improvement in clarity. I cant imagine that my water could be any clearer. It honestly looks as if my fish are just floating with no water. I do use rox 0.8 in a reactor.

this is awesome the best carbon ever, i dont have a problem with it turning to dust, or a clump. It works great noticable difference morning after I put it in. Alternate this and phosphate remover every two weeks.

I have been using this carbon for a few months and it does exactly what is advertised. I change it every two weeks and use the calculator to figure out how much to use and it keeps the water in my tank crystal clear.

It is just carbon after all! That said, its good stuff. The only reason I gave it 4 stars on the recommendation is that I would caution anyone who uses carbon in a reactor that this stuff is significantly smaller in size compared to most other carbon products. As a result, you should down power (ball valve) your pump or be prepared to swap to a smaller pump. Otherwise, this stuff does the job as well as any other out there. I always notice water clarity and a little, immediate boost in coral growth when after a change in the media.

The performance of the ROX .8 out weighs the cost. It's technically a little less expensive, than the smaller carbon, because I don't have to use as much.

I had purchased "reef" carbon from a local reef supply company... the lack of clarity and odor still persisted. One day with ROX 0.8 and a BRS Carbon Reactor and it is clear and smell is gone! I am a fan for good!

This is by far the best carbon I have used and has an exceptional price. It rinses off clean and does not break down as fast as other carbons I have used in the past. Would definitely recommend this above any other carbon on the market, well, at least of the ones I have tired and that covers just about every carbon that is commonly available in Local Fish Stores.

Early in my reefing experience I realized the importance of using carbon and have never turned back. Finding the right carbon however has been a trial and error task that has ended at ROX 0.8. I'm using it in a BRS media reactor and by far this carbon has kept my system cleaner than any other type i've tried. On top of that, the amount of dust/fines it produces is nil if you properly clear it when installing a fresh cartridge. I only replace a cupful every 4 weeks in my setup and my water is crystal clear. I switched to this carbon right during a silicone poisoning disaster (my fault) and my tank recovered from a lethargic near-death state to happy and healthy within 48 hours. Thank you ROX!
