While ROX takes out the organics in the water much better than alternate carbon products, the particle size makes this a horrible choice for a reactor. In fact the product should clearly state "not for use in a reactor". I called BRS and switched to lignite small particle and could not be happier that most of the carbon is not being spit out. It might mean I have to use more product or change more frequently but better that than have carbon all over the place.

By far the best carbon on the market. Its a very fine carbon and rinses in less than a minute and out last and out performs any other carbon.

Great carbon just have rinse it for a few seconds not minutes. Works great put some in a bag and through in with my live rock curing. It got rid of the smell.

I've been using the ROX carbon for a few months now and it seems to work as advertised. I can't compare it to the other carbons, but can say that this one works. My system is 200 gallons total and I use 1.5 cups in a reactor, changed every two weeks. Things are still very clear by the end of the two weeks, so I imagine that it lasts longer, but I like to keep things conservative.

I haven't worked with a lot of carbon over the years, but this stuff seems pretty nice and high quality. I put it in my new BRS carbon reactor and it cleared up the tank in just a few days. I will probably replace more often than the instructions say though, from what I have been reading elsewhere.

Ok, I just bought a gallon of this stuff and loaded into my marineland Hot Magnum 250 filter. Too early to tell if will give any better results then the regular Carbon you buy at the local store, but there are two things I can definitely comment on:

1) This stuff is small. I didn't realize how small. It looks like metal shavings. I was a bit concerned it might make it out of the filter cartridge and jam up my filter, so make sure before you buy this stuff you have a fine filter sleeve/cartridge. Get a ruler and really look at a millimeter. This is .8mms.

2) They were telling the truth when they said it has low dust. After I loaded it into my cartridge I tried to wash out the dust. Normally the water runs black for about a minute but this stuff made me look stupid. I couldn't see the water dim at all when it ran through.

Used a ton of different carbon on my 150 gallon tank. Now I will never use anything else. I use this with a brs reactor with in a 1hr of adding new carbon the tank is crystal clear!!!

I get this for the sole purpose of putting 1/4 cup in the top of my TLF phosphoban reactor just above the top circular foam filter. This allows me to get cleaner water, and also helps to catch some of the particulate from the gfo. Clean water and a sump not stained red!

The ROX carbon is a bit more expensive than the pellet and granular form but well worth the expense. Just be sure to watch the flow rate going through your reactor to insure that you don't shoot the media through your sponges and in to your sump. If you want crystal clear water this is a great help though!!

This is the best carbon I have ever used compared to the carbon I previously used. There is almost no dust in this and it seems to last longer. The small size of the granules and the added efficiency of using it in a reactor allows you to use considerably less than you might require with other carbon. The superb quality of this product makes it well worth the extra few dollars.

Low end carbon can actually release phosphates back into the water. Best to pay a little bit more for the good stuff! BRS is the only place I trust!
