I have been using felt filter socks for a cpl years and they filter great, but cleaning them is such a hassle. I doubt these mesh socks filter as well as the felt, but they are so easy to clean. From now on I will only use these mesh socks. I will ordering more of them soon.

Catches the bigger particles only, which means it doesn't work as well as the felt...but you don't have to change them as often which is good when your tank just isn't that dirty.

Great sock at a great price. I paired this up with brs filter sock mount and it fits like a glove. I recommend it to everyone. Filter sock do a great job at collecting particles. If you go with just a filter pad some debris will make it past the pads. If you use a sock nothing get by. This is ideal in a reef aquarium where u need to keep water pristine.

The sock for me is good for starting up a tank. It will catch the big stuff but wont clog up from the small particals, like silt from live sand at start up. It also works well with holding media. Other then that is doesnt do much more..

This things work really good at catching particles and are easy to clean out. My only concern was the smell they had when i first opened them... Im sure its normal, but i aired it outside for the day just to make sure that it wasn't going to hurt anything in my tank....

But overall another great product for BFS!

These clean out better than the felt kind of sock, the water clarity seemed equal using both kinds of socks. The stood up to multiple cleaning cycles in the washing machine unlike the felt type socks

Never used felt socks before, yet. But these mesh socks catches a lot of crap and are super easy to remove and clean. I just dunk it in a bucket of rodi water, flip it inside out and dunk some more while squeezing the excess out. Done in a few minutes and reinstall!! I may try out a felt sock and or buy a second mesh because I like them so much and are cheaper than the LFS!!

these filter socks are a great alternative to felt. i won't pretend they filter the same but would say there is little difference. the trade off is they are much easier to clean so it makes change overs very easy so they are done more often.

Great value (got 5 in order to get better discount) I am using these as a splash diffuser on my protein skimmer, which has a return that can create quite a bit of salt creep if left un-diffused. This sock softens return splash and is easy to clean.

These socks seem to work just as well as my felt ones do but they are much easier to clean. I'm sure the felt catches more but it clogs more often, which is a trade off I can live with.

This sock is easy to clean but I wouldn't recommend it for catching the smallest particles. It says 200 micron just like the felt socks but doesn't catch as much debris so I have to assume it is passing by. The felt socks are better for mechanical filtration but I'd leave a mesh sock like this one on if you are going on vacation for a week or two. Catches large things like algae or critters.

It works like a filter sock should, it filters out small particles, yet keeps water moving.

It's a nice filter sock, but I'm a little disappointed because of the seam that runs along the sock, is not too great, the end of the twine that was used to sow the piece of mesh together untied a little for me & I had to use some super glue to keep it together and from untying further down the seam.

It not a big deal but for a six dollar (As of 2/2012) nano filter sock, I was hoping for a little better quality.

I like these much better than felt. The felt mesh is easier to install and change out. I am also able to get the mesh far cleaner. The felt socks got nasty pretty quick, i think that both are of high quality and performance but my preference is mesh.

I ran a sump without a filter sock for a year. It was a pain to clean and got nasty really fast. It's wayyy easier to change a sock every few days than to clean your sump out every few months.

These socks are made of a thin fine mesh. I have used felt socks before, and their material is much thicker and they catch more. If you want to wash a felt sock, it's much harder to get the particles out and much more difficult to turn the filter sock inside-out. I'd rather catch a little less debris and have it be easier to clean.

My experience was different than other reviewers. I put the new sock in and over a few days it was still clean. I never cleaned it because it did not catch anything. I assume everything went through the larger 200 micron sock. I ordered the felt socks and yes i have to clean them often but I know they are taking things out of the water.

I have an eshopps pro-series deluxe sump that came with a 300 Micron Felt Sock. The original felt sock clogged every few days. I got the BRS Mesh 200 Micron filter socks to replace the original eshopps one. The BRS mesh sock fits perfectly, keeps my water crystal clear, and hasn't clogged in around 2 weeks. Very happy with the purchase, I have 4 more on stand by for use :-).

The mesh sock works well for catching the larger debris and critters that decide to go on a ride through my plumbing. It doesn't get clogged as quick as the felt socks, but doesn't catch all the smallest particles. It's VERY easy to clean under the kitchen faucet.

Helps to reduce some of the small particles from getting into your sump/fuge. The felt material will get more, but I think are a little harder to clean. I keep a few of these and change them out every two to three days.

The socks seem to work for the most part. My felt socks collect much more debris than the mesh. It seems the small stuff must break down and work it's way through the mesh. Bigger stuff is being stopped.

These socks are much easier to use then the cloth socks. You can clean them by just rinsing then off. No more soaking in bleach or destroying your washing machine.
