This gate valve is a little more expensive than the economy gate valve but to have the ability to take it appart and clean it will make it last that much longer. Gate opens and closes very easily as well. Ditch the cheap SCH 40 ball valves and install one of these.

This thing is built like a tank, and probably about as big and heavy as one too. Works well, but make sure you can support it properly or it may put too much pressure on other fittings or bulkheads.

I purchased this valve to control the full-siphon leg of my beananimal type overflow system. Valve action is very smooth and it provides much finer control than a ball valve.

Valve works great. Super smooth operation. Very minute adjustments can be made to the gate. Used in siphon overflow ultra-quiet set up. Should last forever.

I purchased this valve for my overflow to the sump down in my basement to set up a Herbie ultra quite drain. Very smooth and well built valve. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I purchased this item to replace the ball valve for my overflow to the sump. With the gate valve, I have been able to preciselycontrol my water volume allowing for a full siphon. The quality of the valve is excellent and it comes apart for general cleaning. This item is a must have for all marine aquariums in my opinion.
