After purchasing and outfitting a tank with several sizes of ABS bulkheads, I would strongly recommend anyone else purchasing bulkheads to invest the additional money for the schedule 80 ones. For only one reason. ABS ones crack when tightening up the threaded piping. I had 2 of these crack and had to change them out. The problem was you dont know they crack until the tank is filled with water and all of the sudden you notice the small fracture in the threads causing a persistent drip. The slip ones work great but buyer beware of overtightening on the ABS ones.

I purchased to plumb through my tanks to my pump and filter and back to my tanks. Out of 12 bulkheads 6 started leaking the next day and 2 others were cracked. Not at all happy with performance.

These seem to work just as well as the sch 80 bulkheads when installed correctly and have smaller hole requirements

I bought this bulkhead for an overflow I drilled into my refugium. I was able to find the fittings I was looking for at the local hardware store with no problem. I connected a 90 degree elbow to the bulkhead inside the tank pointing upward and another 90 degree elbow on the outside of the tank pointing downward into my sump and it works perfectly. No leaks whatsoever and the abs plastic and gasket feel very solid. It was nice to add a simple drilled overflow for only about $8 in parts!

I used these for my drain durso standpipes. I would never use slip bulkheads for a drain because at some point you'll get garbage down the overflow and need to get it out. If you have larger hands / arms, you're not going to get in there. With the threaded bulkheads, all you need to do is unscrew them every now and then so everything can drain out, put some new teflon tape on them and screw them back in.

I purchased two of these and installed them in my overflows. They were snug with little effort and have stood up to the water test just fine. Without a lot of pressure to keep them sealed, I don't expect to have any issues. Hardware stores don't carry these exact ones and the few that they have are way more expensive.

ignore my last comment. This is a 1" bulkhead and works fine with any 1" pipe you buy at the hardware store.

The ones I received have an inside diameter of 1.24 inches so technically they are not 1" fittings but the rest of the dimensions on the website are correct, a 42 mm is the correct hole saw size.

Before replumbing my reef tank I used slip to slip bulkheads what a mistake. With the threaded bulkheads you can easly disconnect your plumbing and remove the tank or fix a leek with out having to cut the plumbing out.

I used several of these ABS bulkheads to plumb a sump and frag tank. They are very sturdy. I also had ordered the SCH 80 bulkheads, just in case the ABS ones didn't work. The ABS were more than adequate for my needs.
