Great Product-Does what it's supposed to. By Darcy on 3/6/13

Great reactor. Easy to use. Easy to adjust. BRS instructions make it a snap to set up. In my application with only using less than half the reactor capacity, the MJ1200 is a bit of overkill. I replaced it with an MJ600 and it's still more than enough flow through the unit. I still have it throttled back a fair bit with the included valve. It probably will be just right at toward the end of the lifespan of the carbon as the reactor media slowly gets clogged. Those that use the reactor at its maximum capacity will probably find the Cobalt MJ1200 a better match than do I.

Just want I needed! By cdbstl76 on 3/4/13

No more media bags. No more taking up room in my sump. No more use of a less efficient method! Using this as a mixed carbon and GFO unit, it works for me. Mounted just above my sump, with all the parts that are needed... I just feel like my tank is that much better off. Time will tell on the actual efficiency, but I have all the faith in the world it will be better.

Great Reactor! By Greg on 2/28/13

I wish I knew earlier on about using GFO for controlling phosphates. I purchased this unit to battle an algae outbreak / new tank syndrome. After 3 weeks of using this reactor with BRS standard GFO, my tank and rocks are now algae free. I'll never have another reef tank without one of these!

I have discovered that Bulk Reef Supply only sells high end quality products and this reactor is no exception. It is working like a charm, and took literally minutes to install. The hoses just pop into place. It comes with additional elbows, which worked wonderfully for us.
The only thing you have to be careful about is to really push the hoses in very tightly. We tested the unit outside. .. which was great because it leaked in all the joints. However as soon as we used a little muscle and pushed the hoses in tighter. Then everything was completely sealed.
This unit is so well made and we love how the joints are all able to spin. Makes adjusting to any tight area a dream.

Nice unit for the price! Just make sure hoses are cut straight and firmly inserted. You could get a leak if you don't.

First time GFO user By Julian on 12/7/12

My API Reef Master Test Kit indicated that my phosphate levels were low. How low is hard to say because of the color match system it uses but I'd say pretty close to zero. I bought the Hanna phosphate checker and was surprised to see I had an actual phosphate level of .34. Not good. So I bought the BRS Deluxe reactor. Based on the reviews, I thought the extra $10 for the Deluxe version was worth it to have a more heavy duty upper holder/bracket plus a more see-through canister. Some reviewers complain that the hoses are very stiff. That is true but submerging them in very hot water makes them more pliable. Some reviewers had leaks. You've just got to push the hose very hard into its fittings...then no leaks. So I got it up and running in a short time. Looks like it is working good. In a few days I'll recheck my phosphate readings. Based on reviews and the BRS recommendations, for carbon use, I bought another Deluxe reactor and motor rather than combining the medias.
