Easy to set up and use. Tubing is a bit stiff and doesn't want to go where you want it to go, but the unit works as expected. Pump is quiet and works well with nice deep suction cups. A little venting and pump throttling to establish GFO tumble and good to go.

I am running a mix of carbon and gfo in this. Completely cleared my tank in less than one day, should of run it from the start. The pressure release makes media changes easy, almost no water spilled!

I was surprised at how fast the Phosphates dropped and the algae died off this happened so fast that I had a tank crash that caused a panic I lost one fish a cleaner shrimp, it took a 30% water change the 5% a day for 4 days and changing out the filter socks daily they were loading up with dead algae, yes I had a algae issue prompting this purchase, I just wish I knew what to expect! I guess I experienced a mini crash? that lasted a week my levels are back to normal and the fish are happy. if you have a big issue I would suggest 1/2 the GFO recommended for your tank size to start maybe less so this does not happen to you. changing anything in your tank can have unknown effects I think my cleaning crew helped a lot " I did remove the snails and put them in a Quarantine tank for the first 2 days till I got the levels down to were I was comfortable".

A must have for every reefer... By Scott on 8/24/2013

My setup initially had a canister (fluval 206). I swapped that for this and a hob refigium.
This is running a carbon/gfo mix on my 36 gallon. Red hair algae had been a slight issue for me with the canister. Three days after installing this and running the carbon gfo mix I'm already seeing results.
Straight forward install, easy maintenance, low cost...no downsides at all.
Like most reefers, I'm a huge fan of this reactor.

I've been fighting with an algea problem for a month, I had amazing results in 48 hours of installation running a carbon and gfo mixture almost all algea was gone and crystal clear water. Very well built and easy to use I highly recommend this to anyone.

I purchased this to help get rid of some hair algae. It took a few weeks but it's all gone. Lucky I bought it just in time. Going to get another one and run carbon in it.

I have two of these, one for GFO and one for Carbon. It's really easy to replace the filter media and with all the extras that the deluxe comes with, it makes it easy to set it up the way you want.
I would recommend this to anyone.

Bought two of these for my 75 gallon tank. One for GFO and one for carbon. no complaints. work well, easy to use. Had to buy extra tubing but that was my own fault for putting them away from the sump.

This reactor is absolutely best. Small foot print. Nice black look. Love it!
Well built but tubing is difficult to work with By BigDubb on 6/4/2013

I bought the Deluxe with the MJ1200. Everything looked good out of the box, but when I attempted to hook up the tubing provided to the MJ1200 the two are the exact same size. I needed to use one of the pieces that came with the powerhead to join the two. Only partial water capacity is moving through the reactor. Additionally, the tubing is incredibly rigid and hard to work with.
The instructions weren't accurate either. They included steps to put the elbows on. The machined top already has these included so this is moot.
Some type of nipple or joining mechanism would be beneficial
