Seems to be a great product By MCR on 12/6/2013

I have had it running for 2 weeks and it seems to be doing the job. I had some hair algae and it is almost completely gone. As others have said the hanging bracket does seem to be a little flimsy but seems to do the job. Plus I noticed that there is a limited life time warranty on it so if it does break, would assume it would be covered.

I decided to purchase this dual reactor for my 180g reef tank because I was continuously having outbreaks of cyano and various types of algae. I tried several things to get it under control and most only appeared to work for a week or so. So far I have had the reactors set up for about 6 weeks and have not seen any reappearing algae.
*Also I am using the BRS high capacity GFO*
Great but... By Jake on 11/19/2013

I feel this is a great product, I've had it running for two weeks now with Phosban GFO and Marineland carbon. haven't seen any problem with the gfo loss of tumbling but do see a bunch of air bubbles in the carbon chamber and can't get them out. The chambers are sturdy and connect very well, but the hanging bracket is very weak and when i hung it on the wall it tilts, i had to put a towel behind it to keep the chambers in an upright level position
Maybe for a tank less than 100 gallons total By Nicholas on 11/7/2013

I've got a 120 gallon tank with a 40 gallon sump (take out live rock space, etc, and I end up with about 120 gallons total). Anyway, with that sized tank, it takes almost 2 cups (the maximum amount) of GFO and 1.5 cups of carbon (I am going to have to switch to the more expensive ROX just to drop the amount down).
Anyway, I bought it bundled with the recommended MJ1200 pump and the flow control is great... For about 2 days, then it is a matter of turning it up every day just to keep water flowing. Definitely NOT made to really handle that much media, at least with that pump.
Also, the carbon chamber won't stay filled with water. I was told by BRS that this is OK, but is sure doesn't seem like it. Even after purging the air, it takes about a day before it has a lot of air.
I am now running this dual reactor with nothing but the foam "pre-filters" in the carbon chamber just so that I can keep water moving through the GFO.
So I basically bought a dual reactor that can only be used as a single for my sized tank. Either that, or I toss out the $30 MJ1200 and get something bigger.
I feel mislead by their product information.

Everyone should have one of these for their reef tank. I had runaway phosphate trouble and saw a difference in 24 hours. So easy to use and I like that I can hang it as opposed to setting it on the floor.
Clumping By Mark on 10/21/2013
Mark would recommend this product to a friend
Decent quality product, but I find with BRS standard GFO I must use much more flow than described in the instructions to avoid the GFO clumping together. And as another poster mentioned, it is critical the reactor is level as well. The question now is if the extra flow will result in more fines or short GFO life?

Diatoms Still Blooming By Jerry on 9/28/2013

Dual reactor installed easily and seems to work as advertised by keeping phosphate low. However, Diatoms must be thriving on silicates introduced from I haven't discover where.

I absolutely love this reactor! Took about 5 minutes to install. I attached a Maxijet 600 and it works great. If you need a reactor get this one.

Simple easy to use and works great ! Does not require much in the way of a pump to churn up the gfo ! Really no algae in my tank at all , but also no coraline algae ! Used this from the start, change out gfo once a month and carbon every 2 weeks !

I could build my own dual reactor but I'll spend more than buying this so I bought this instead and boy works better than I expected.Hooked up a Danner pump model 7 @ 700 gph is just about what I needed for my 90 gallon reef tank.Running very well and excellent flow just as evidence from the crystal clear water I have in my main tank......than before the inclusion. Will definitely recommend to a friend.

Haven't run it long enough to see difference but so far looks very good. One thing I didn't like is the instructions on the pump, very confuse and from BRS no instructions at all on how to assemble the pump, it has a lot of parts that you don't really need (I hope)

Great reactor!!! I've been using it now for about 5 months without issue. I use it on my 90 gallon ULNS SPS tank with BRS GFO and ROX carbon. Keeps my water clear and removes the last bit of PO4 that my bio pellets can't. It's very sturdy and I've never had an issue or leak.

I have not used other GFO reactors so I can't compare. But it seems when this reactor is mounted slightly not level only part of the GFO is moved by the water.
Product quality is solid.

I have been battling a massive green algae problem for quite awhile now - I decided to try one of these filters - wish I had been running this since the beginning - my algae problem is slowly receeding, tank looks great, and I'm seeing much better overall health in my corals. Thanks for another easy to use, easy to setup product - came with everything I needed to set it up - opened the box, set it up, added the GFO and Carbon, and boom - up and running - and most importantly, helping my tank big time!

This reactor is great for anyone looking to upgrade existing filtration. A few things would be better to have than what comes with the kit. Push connectors are the worst. Sure they stay together, FOREVER, if you screw up, or are just playing around, you will never remove them again.... Make sure you have thought out your plumbing before you push everything tight. Stiffer sponges would have been nice as they tend to move around on you when you fill the cartridges.
