Nice build quality By Brad on 3/25/13

Very nice quality. I would be nice to see a more compact version for people with tight spaces or smaller aquariums. It would also be nice to have the option to add extra push to connect fittings to connect to my pump manifold.

works great. By chris on 3/25/13

Finally bought a dual reactor to take the place of my phosban reactor so I could run carbon seperate instead of mixed in with gfo. Love it and the pump that comes with it is perfect.

Quiet, Easy to Use By Kathy on 3/22/13

Pump is quiet, my protien skimmer is louder. Easy to mount and assemble. All parts included. After 3 weeks, tank is not so clear, but phosphate level is lowering. The sponge in the carbon canister drops down, but according to BRS as long as the carbon stays up-no worries. Seems to work well so far. Don't like: I have to constantly adjust the flow into the GFO canister, not sure why, it is an inconvenience and slight worry.

Effectiveness, Ease of Use, and Esthetics By Austin on 3/22/13

With so many attributes to look after in our tanks we in the reefing world look for 3 things: effectiveness, ease of use, and esthetics. The BRS GFO & Carbon Reactor gives us all three. This is the most integrated, cohesive, and effective unit to pull out unwanted phosphates and nutrients from your tank. Because the reactors are combined it makes the unit more efficient in processing water and reduces the number of pumps in your sump. The removable cartridges make this the easiest reactor to maintain. I've purchased an extra set just for added simplicity. Lastly, the space it takes up is minimal, especially if you compare it to other reactors required to do the same job. For added space management you can mount this reactor to any wall. I would absolutely recommend this reactor to anybody.

Pump could be better By Travis on 3/15/13

I really like the combined chambers to save space however the MJ1200 pump just seems too weak. I have the unit almost level to not lose much head pressure and it just doesn't seem to push what I thought it would. I will be switching out the pump as soon as I can. My advise is to just buy the unit and get a different more powerful pump.

You are able to watch all media tumble and react with it. 100% effective
I am using BRS GFO and BRS Premium ROX 0.8 carbon in mine, ridiculously easy to change out media. Thanks BRS!

Needs to be modified By lostmyz on 2/28/13

No offense, to everyone who likes this product. I initially bought it and thought it was great. However, after months of using the product I have to say it is sub-par. It is a glorified RO/DI canister with a removable chamber (which is cool for easy clean out). With that said, it is not very efficient. Due to the fact the flow stinks through it even with the MaxiJet 1200 attached. You constantly have to monitor it because it gets clogged and the flow slows down. Also a down side to this is the fact that te Chambers are connected in parallel. And the flow drastically declines in the Carbon Chamber after a while as the GFO chamber slows down. I think the product would be better engineered if it allowed you to have individual flow to both chambers and the ability to control said flow. All you need to do is rotate the Canisters on how they are attached to the mounting plate. Add a "Y" fitting with 2 valves one for each canister and than on the outflow side connect the outflow with another "Y" fitting and you are done. This will add a lot of control to the system and no account for as much clogging and decreased flow. It is just my two cents on the matter.

Great price but tricky to get the flow. By Isaac on 2/28/13

I will recommend this product to others because with a few tricks it works very well. I had many problems with trying to get the flow to stabilize. It would work well for a day and then the flow would just stop and everything would just settle to the bottom of the canister on the GFO side. It took a few tries before I realized that it was because tiny bits of GFO were passing from the GFO canister into the bottom of the carbon canister and blocking all of the water flow. What I found was that if I left the carbon canister out for a day and only ran GFO for the first day or first few days, all the small pieces of GFO would have passed through and I could add the carbon without fear of getting the bottom carbon sieve clogged. Also, the sponges don't hold their place very well at all.

User error... By Sunny on 2/17/13

I need to apologize about my recent negative post... I dosed Ca and Alk at the same time in my sump with the BRS 1.1 ml doser and also placed the 1200 pump forthe reactor in the same area and it caused the strainer plates to clog (as well as the pump itself) which severely restricted the flow. Once I realized what happened I started dosing separately and place the return pump for my reactor in another area of my sump and actually had to gate the flow down some.

Phosphates beware By JPRO on 2/16/13

I originally saw this product on youtube with both canisters containing GFO in the bottom and one with packed carbon at the top. With a 130 gallon tank this setup is working great with the pump supplied in the kit. The see through containers allow you to view the slow "boil" of the gfo.
