I have been using this for over a year and even thru several different buckets it mixes the same consistency and ratings every time using the same quantities!! It even mixes well in cooler water (62deg.) without clouding after only 15 mins. Overall a great product for all corals!!

We have tried a few different salts and this one has been the best so far hands down. Mixes well, no terrible odor (unlike Brightwell), plus no overnight mixing required. Our tank seems to like the new salt and we plan to continue using it.

Merne would recommend this product to a friend
I love this salt. It dissolves easy with minimal heat. Normally I would let this dissolve overnight, but in emergencies, I have successfully mixed just prior to putting in the tank and had no ill effects. Love this salt--no need to dose with freq water changes.

Good salt mixes well. Be prepared if you keep your ALK lower than 12 if you mix this salt to 1.025 and do a water change it will raise your ALK. The parameters are what they say they are.

Terrible salt - causes algae By Not a novice on 3/26/13
Not a novice wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
This salt is terrible. I may have gotten 2 buckets from a bad batch but not going to give it another chance. Ever since I started using it, it has been causing a terrible hair algae outbreak. The more water changes I do the worse it gets. I would never recommend this salt to even my worst reefing enemy.

Good Mix, but full of plastic By jeremy on 3/14/13
jeremy would recommend this product to a friend
The salt dissolved VERY rapidly and had good parameters. The issue I had with it was every cup of salt I scooped out contained shredded pieces of paper or plastic in it which made for a very time consuming and messy operation as I had to pull or scoop out this plastic from my mix. I'm concerned that my water chemistry might be off because of it.

Great Salt - Easy to Mix and Consistent By TankTime on 3/7/13
TankTime would recommend this product to a friend
Lots of reviews on here already and I can say after using 4 other brands that I am staying with this salt no matter what. I test each new bucket I start, before it ever goes in my system, and it is consistent, mixes well, and has minimal residue compared to everything else I tried. I definitely attribute this salt, and the trace elements that it contains, to improved success with reefkeeping. Awesome salt and only a few bucks more than other brands but FAR worth it. I buy a couple of containers at a time along with GFO, Carbon, etc.... and it comes to my door for free. BRS ROCKS!

The salt calcium percipitaed By Mark on 12/26/12
Mark wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
Basically ,
The Local Fish Store got the North American East coat Representative on the phone and spoke with them about the issue. I brought a sample of the water mix with me. The Mix took 34 cups to make 1.024 and 37 cups to make 55 gallons 1.025 (it turned out my refractometer was calibrated to low from my calibration solution) it was actually just under 1.027 ...high yes but non the less there are more issues.
The representative was polite , professional and seemingly knowledgeable without being condescending. He spoke some basics about the packaging. I should not have bought what I did. It was professionally intended and did not contain beginner instructions. (I am thinking a Monkey can mix water with salt but...lets go on) I reminded him it is sold in a retail store (Later the LFS manager was bewildered, he commented that he was professional and wondered how is he supposed to know without correct instrutions on the product)
...I continue...he was just letting me know...and the phone conversation continued. He wanted to know step by step what I did from beginning to end. I told him...bought two 55 gallon Plastic food safe drums, filled with water to clean and drained and then I started my pressure washer and put the 3 foot nozzle into the container and rotated until every surface was surface pressure cleaned inside, refilled and drained. I used a 30 gallon open tub for mixing with and Eheim 1260 (nothing attached during mixing, later I attached fittings to circulate the drum contents of the salt mix)
so...I filled the tub with RO/DI water and sprinkled a cup into the tub over about a 5 minute time and let it violently agitate for 15 minutes...then I put the attachment onto my pump and pumped the mix into the empty drum ...then I repeated with RO/DI and some of the first blend from the first mix.(I have two drums, one was full of RO/DI and the other empty and clean) at this point I would fill the 30 gallon container and test and then mix a cup over a 5 minute period and then transfer into the barrel (filling it up...then I would empty the barrel from the bottom bilge...test water and repeat. I did this 37 times. It looked cloudy from the first mixing of 15 minutes with one cup all the way till the last. Anal...yes...my last test was 3:00am. I could not tell from the white 55 Gallon container if it was cloudy or not the next daybreak. I left a circulation going for 10 hours. The picture you see above is the end result from the Drum.
The rep then simply picked apart my process. He asked what was in the drum originally (I told him about the cleaning process) ...he moved on. He asked how much time went by with the water salt mix sitting in the Drumm without circulation (15 Minutes)...he asked what went into the mixing first , water then salt or salt then water. (water then salt 1 cup to 30 gallons...pretty simple if you ask me. Then he asked if my water was RO/DI and at what ppm. I told him ...yes and 00ppm.Then he asked what the temperature was during mixing condition. I told him 84 (we have had a tropical depression go by)
He asked how old the tank was...I said new) oh..he said.
He asked how much sand was in the tank...I said none it is glass.
He asked how clean it was...I told him I restored it every inch was razor cleaned and paper toweled no liquid ( except alcohol to clean silicone areas)
His conclusion.
1. I left the water stagnant (not circulating for 15 minutes. Problem
2. The mixing temperature was to high ambient needed to be 79 not 84. Problem
3. I put in too much salt. Problem
I caused the salt not too mix according to the above faults...his mouth to my fingers. No apology needed.
The end result of the three bad things I did above resulted in the calcium precipitating , and there was nothing that will re-dissolve it. Time would allow it to settle ...maybe a week or two and then I could vacuum it off the glass. But I would need to test again for all missing elements.
My thoughts and the LFS...no way. Ya know I may not be a salt expert but I can smell a rat when I come across one. I did extensive research (albeit internet) and I found many people that have been plugging along just fine using Red Sea Coral Pro and the BAME they bought the next one recently and MILK. They get a Rep telling them they are mixing it wrong... like hello,,,they have been mixing for a long time YOUR PRODUCT and nothing changed but the container recently bought. Slowly the mixes are surfacing.Something changed or it was just a bad batch.
No mater what...they should admit it.
Today was the last day my LFS carried it. Un less this resolves they are going with their customers interests. That's smart business. They saw postings backing up my claim...on top of that the LFS manager commented on my polite calm approach , he felt I am intelligent and believable.
My salinity issue and refractometer was recalibrate by professionals now.
I was given a full refund...I bought IO and have never had a problem

This Salt Mix is a decent quality product. Big fan of H2Ocean but this Red Sea product is comparable. It is way better then synthetic salts as long as your not doing major water changes. The bacterium seem to like the natural products much better in the long run. When mixed right the fresh salt water gives off a good aroma, and you can tell its healthy for the aquarium. Get this product and watch your corals perk up.

Great salt, can be cloudy with insufficient mixing By MJ's Custom Aquarium Water on 9/21/12
MJ's Custom Aquarium Water would recommend this product to a friend
It took me quite awhile to master the mixing process with this salt. Even when poorly mixed and very cloudy my saltwater tank loved it. After switching from the LFS water to my own RODI and this salt, I completely eliminated my nuissance bubble and hair algae within a couple months. It was miraculous. I would give this 10 stars as a product if it wasn't so hard to get mixed thoroughly in small batches. Now I have a 55 gallon mixing station and it mixes like a dream.

I ordered the big bucket. It has some serious heft to it--the UPS man was audibly angry about having to carry it around. Anyway, this stuff dissolves faster than any salt I've ever used, and its stats on mixing it up are exactly what it says on the package (at least, within the error range of my test kits).

Scarry By Dedeo on 8/16/12
Dedeo wouldn't recommend this product to a friend
I bought this salt at my LFS. When I did a 15% water change, the next day both my Powder Blue Tang and my Yellow Tang were dead. I freaked out. I had them for months and they are not cheap fish. So I got them out and did another water change. While I was checking the water chemistry I noticed the ammonia was high. So I did another water change, same results. So I checked my freash water it came up 0 ppm, then when I put the Red Sea Pro Salt in the good water and checked it it came up 1.0ppm the tube was green. I checked it over and over again with the same results. I then took pictures and emailed them to my LFS. They gave me my money back and wanted 2 cups of the salt. They got the same results I did. I don't know if I got a bad batch or what, but when I contacted Red Sea, they never even emailed my back. So now every time I do a water change I check the new water before I put it in my tank!

I recently switched from IORC to RSCPS and what a difference. I can tell just from mixing the quality difference. The cheaper IORC leaves a floating residue on top of the water in the mixing tank while the RSCPS leaves no residue. Fish and corals have seemed to respond better to this salt too.

I find it interesting to read some of the varying observations in these reviews.
Using a Hanna colorimeter I find that with a fresh mix of 1.025, ALK is at about 15--which is higher than the advertised level. I measured the Ph to be about 8.2.
Beyond that, what I observe over time is the need to dose ALK and Mg, which leads me to believe the Ca, Mg and ALK numbers are actually, in practice, a bit lower than advertised as others have observed.
Beyond that, end results are what matter to me. And I have had tremendous results with this mix over the others I have tried, and for now will use nothing else.
