After using API for years I was convinced that they were good enough for hobbyists. That is until I got into serious reef keeping and my corals weren't looking their best. I purchased this kit to test my Calc/Alk/Mag and found that my levels were no where near what API had told me. I drove to my LFS and had them confirm with their kits (Salifert and Hanna Digital) and I was sold on why these a necessity. They give accurate tests time after time and are very easy and effective. RedSea also has fantastic customer support!

I had trouble with the color matching on this kit. The colors on the card is not the color that the water ever turns.Once you get this figured out it is ok.

I purchased the Red Sea Reef Foundation Pro Multi Test Kit to replace my Salifert test kits.
Overall pleased with these new test kits. The Alkalinity test does take some getting used to. (Thanks for the help Lue.)
And only needing to purchase refills makes this line of kits more economical.

This testing kit from Red Sea is the best test kit I have used on my reef tanks yet. I have used Salifert test kits along with various other kits, but I recently switched to the Red Sea pro kit and I wont be switching back anytime soon! If you're not familiar with how to titrate chemicals, it can be tough, but very easy to learn! It's also very accurate and I highly suggest it!

this test kit is well put together and easy to read and follow. It is worth the cost and they have replacements to add later. Comes in a nice container and instructions on plastic cards so your can read them even if they get wet.

This kit is very well put together and the instructions are easy to follow. It's a relatively quick process... just pay attention to detail and you'll get exact results. Better than a monitor that may loose it's calibration.
One of the tips on the syringes was cracked and BRS replaced it pronto!!

Before I go into this review I would like to mention that I've never used a salifert or a hannah tester so I can't make any comparisons between them.

Well I just picked this test kit up, and I can say its pretty accurate. There's only a few problems with it, for example, the test kit/s requires you to subtract the amount of reagent left over in the syringe from the original amount in the syringe(1.0 ml.) The other and only real problem, because the other one is a nuisance, is with the alk kit. The endpoint is not supposed to be orange like what the card says it will be; the endpoint is actually purple with a tint of orange not purely orange.
The good parts are that this is fast 2-3 minutes for the longest which is mg. This kit is as accurate as I can believe, which I can't prove without a doubt mainly because I have only used API test kits. This kit is also more reliable than the ones I have used before.

Also this is neither a pro or con, but I think they use some strong acids or bases in their test kits because it made my hands feel soapy when some of the Ca fluid landed landed on my hand, so keep some baking soda nearby to neutralize the chemicals if you get any on your hands.

Very easy to use compared to some of the crazy kits out there. The best part about this kit is that it allows you to share the water while you are mixing the reagent because it have a piece that attaches to the top of the bottle and it squirt the reagent.

This kit is great, but be prepared to take your time when you are doing these tests. The method used (titration) should be very accurate if you perform the tests as stated in the manual.

Given the importance of these parameters you'll want a reliable test kit that ensures accurate results. That's what I wanted and exactly what this kit offers. The test for each mineral is straight forward and can be done quickly. The equipment included provides for pretty specific readings...not some overly vague result "range". The ability to order reagents separately after they've been depleted is a nice option and welcome money saver.

Just did my first test last night and was very impressed. I have been using salifert which is very good but not nearly as good as red sea. I love the fact you can buy the refill kits for these. It comes in a nice case with everything in its seperate place. Very well constructed product.

This Test kit works great and comes with easy to follow instuctions along with a lot of helpful tips and hints inside the user manual. Very helpful for anyone new to chemistry. I love the titrator that comes with the kit makes testing easy. Testing card instructions and case are all water proof and provides an easy to read color chart for test results.

Great price LFS i have found sells theses for around 80-90 dollars for the exact same thing you get here. So if you need a tester don't overspend in your local store get it here so you can spend more on your tank instead of the other stores.

This test kit recieves a low rating for several reasons. The bottles leaked and soaked the cards with red test fluid. There are no instructions other than the basic cards. The tests themselves slowly fade into the end result color and the Ca test will turn blue and after 10 or more seconds revert to red. The tests require you to subtract the amount used in the syringe via the titrator against the total volume of the syringe to compare to the chart leaving room for simple errors. The lack of distinct color changing readings make this a frustrating test kit to use.
