Digital is the way to go. One reagent to add and you get a very accurate result. Tested twice in a row to see if the number would change even by 1ppm but it was identical. Wish you could change it to dkh vs ppm. Makes me do one more conversion.

This is one of the easiest checker I have ever used.

I love this thing. I have been using the Hanna Alk checker for five months now and I still love it. My old Alk test was hard to delineate between the colors. With the digital read out there are no more questions of the results. The process is easy and fast. It is well worth the investment.

It does not get any easier to check alkalinity. No more guessing what the color is. I would recommend to any reefer.

This tester is super easy to use and results are fast and accurate. I have always had a hard time trying to compare colors on other test kits, the Hanna Checkers take all of the guesswork out of it and give you an actual number.

Love this test kit for its simplicity and digital readout. You must do a simple calculation to get DKH reading (multiply X 0.056) and then you are set. Used red sea alk before but always had some gray areas with the titration.

Fast, accurate, repeatable, can't do any better.

I have both the Hanna Alkalinity and Phosphate checkers. Both are incredibly easy to use and the results are very accurate. I would recommend them to anyone looking for better test results. The initial investment for the checker is well worth it as the refill kits are cheaper than buying test kits repeatedly.

It works just like its suppose to. It's very easy to use and is all organized in a waterproof case. Hope to see more quality products like this one for the aquarium hobby.

This is almost perfect, except for the fact that the actual results need adjusting (see Randy's AA article). Super easy to use and fast. No guessing color changes. Once you have your adjustment factor dialed in, results are very consistent.

I've used the Hanna Alk checker for about year now, I'm on my 4th bottle of reagent, so I love using this test kit. The instructions are clear and testing water samples is a simple process. Doing tests one after the other shows consistent results, making almost dummy proof.

Advanced Aquarist magazine did a review of this checker against an EPA approved testing device. They found the Hanna checker to give results that were too high.. but at least the high reading was consistently higher at various concentrations of Alkalinity.

After learning this kit measured high, I compared it to a Salifert Alk test kit. The Salifert kit confirmed the articles conclusion. My reading was higher on the Hanna meter. In my case, I was a little bit low on my Alk and needed to raise it a bit.

After a couple of months testing with both the Hanna meter and Salifert kit, I noticed the Hanna meter reads a consistent 0.7 to 0.9 dKH higher than the Salifert kit. If you are riding on the low end of the Alk scale, that could be significant.

Now that I know there the Hanna kit reads high, I no longer use the Salifert kit, as I'm looking for consistency in the Alk kit, and the Hanna meter more than capable of detecting the rise and fall in levels in order to adjust my 2-part dosing.

I recommend the Hanna kit over the Salifert kit simply because it's easy to use and consistent. I hate the drip-and-swirl and watch for color changes that come with other kits... but the other kits make sense for "sanity checks".

This particular checkers is a lot faster than most, and the digital read takes out the guess work. I think the print on the instruction manuel should slighly larger for us visually impared reefers, but does not take much to memorize the steps.

Come on, it's digital, what more can you ask for.

I own all three Hanna checkers and I must say that they're my saving grace. Being colorblind made standard color matching tests very difficult on me and the wife. The KH checker is great and constantly provides me with consistent results. There's only about three steps to follow with this test. I highly recommend this and all other Hanba checkers.

I test three things on a regular basis, Kh, calcium & magnesium. Since I order the Hanna Alkalinity test kit it cuts my testing time in half and what's great is that it gives you a digital readout instead of matching colors in a vial. Plan on ordering the calcium and phosphate testers as soon as I catch up from all the other products I order from BRS. The only thing I wish the Hanna checker has was more reagent in the kit

This is one of the best pieces of equipment I have, and the one with whose results I am most confident.

The procedure is utterly foolproof--fill vial, press button, add reagent, press button, take reading.

An absolutely essential item. Buy this before buying an aquarium ;-)

So much easier to use than other test kits, and with the digital readout there is no guessing.

Accurate and fairly simple to use.

This thing is awesome. It's fast, easy to use and produces accurate and precise results each and every time. Fill the vial with water, press the button, add 1ml of reagent, mix, put back in the checker and press the button. Wait about 15 seconds and viola'. That's all there is to it.

I just wish they would include a chart to convert ppm to dKH, but you can look that up online in a few different places.

These Hanna checkers are really great. The only thing is they are $50 a pop and only give you about 25 tests. For alkalinity I think we test Alkalinity the most and they should provide more tests. Overall the product is EXTREMELY simple to use.

Also BRS needs to supply the latest instructions for the liquid reagent instead of the powder that does not come with it any longer.

I find this product very accurate and very efficent. The results turns to be as exact as they can be. When I test and retest the values are constant.

Work, easy instruction.

I bought the checker about a month ago and love it. The ease of use and precision of readings won me over. Only problem I have is the reagents refills are a little pricy.

i recently won this unit in a raffle. i think this is one of the simplest things to use. i wish it read in dkh and not ppm but the math is not hard.

I had been using the strips for all my test kits and decided to start switching over to the Hanna checkers to see if I liked them better... SUCH a difference. Having a number readout is just so much easier and accurate!

So glad I made the jump, won't go back to testing strips and those colors that's for sure!

I tried this only once so far, but was very easy to use. I am interested in seeing the accuracy as I have checked it against my salfert kit and this measured a little lower, so I am guessing this is probably more accurate. This is far easier and quicker than the old kits, pretty much the only way to go.

Very fast an more accurate than drop counting Elos. Hanna 5.6 compared to 5.5 to 6 from the Elos test kit

Without a doubt this is a must have. The kit and instructions are well thought out and easy to follow. I appreciate the storage container too as minor as that might be.

I want all of my test kits to be like this.
