Does exactly what it is suppose to do. Not sure how anyone runs a vortech without it (or some kind of backup). 2-3days of sure flow gives great peace of mind. Thanks!

The last thing you want with thousands invested in your reef is a power outage. It's simple peace of mind... No reef should be with out one! - Just be warned, it's bigger and heaver then then any photo can do it justice. Mount it securely... and happy reefing!

If you live in the midwest like I do, these are a must. Once power is lost these little babies kick in and power your Vortechs at 25% power for many hours.

I GOT THIS BATT PACK ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO, WHEN WE HAD A POWER OUTAGE HERE, THIS THING KICKED ON WITHOUT A PROBLEM. CONSIDERING THE COST OF MY LIVE STOCKS, THIS UNIT IS WORTH IT'S PRICE. WILL BE BUYING ANOTHER IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Does what it says on the tin, but short of perfect By Tony on 9/13/11

The backup unit is housed in an aluminum housing that's been painted white. It has flanges on the rear with holes for mounting screws, although unfortunately it does not come with any screws. It does, however, come with 2 fused connecting cables that can be used either for 2 pumps or a pump and a 2nd battery. Interestingly, this battery backup unit can also be used for the new EcoTech LED lighting units in addition to the pumps, which means it's a much more complete backup solution if your setup is all-EcoTech. The battery packs are apparently not user-replaceable. The built-in trickle charger has a small and light side-mounting "wall wart" that incorporates a status LED. My unit came fully charged and worked properly when I tested it by cutting off power to the pump. It remains to be seen whether it will work for the full 72 hours advertised with an MP10, but so far indications are good. Recommended over a traditional UPS because it can be hidden away and because it will have a much longer runtime.
