Not for biopellets By trigger on 5/17/13

I have 1 of these reactors and 2 of the black brs ones. They are perfect for GFO and Carbon, however i dont think they are ideal for Biopellets what so ever. After just 1 week the biopellets are barely tumbling because of gunk buildup inside the filter that restricts flow. This has to be cleaned weekly to keep the biopellets tumbling. Having to do this makes it a chore so I am seriously considering a different reactor. I hope BRS will re-design this reactor so that it doesnt clog as easily. Do not recomment for BIO Pellets. Only for GFO and Carbon.

Works like a charm, using a maxi jet 1200 for a good flow.
Old two little fishes reactor too many problems.

like every BRS product i have ever bought this reactor is very high quality. like alot of people my first reactor was a converted phosban reactor powered by a maxi jet. no mater what i did i could not get a good even flow and with biopellets that is key. when i recieved my BRS reactor i was imediately impresed. i had it mounted in minutes and out of curiousity i hooked the maxijet up to it.because of the design of the reactor it had all the pellets moving. my reactor is mounted at sump level so the maxijet only has 6 inches of head presure any more i would have gone with a bigger pump.i have a much more expencive unit on another tank and like it alot but it cost more than three times as much as the BRS reactor.

I have an overstocked reef tank... enough said my nitrates were always a bit high even when I did a lot of water changes. I had to do one every week to keep it at bay. My corals never really had amazing colors and great growth. I bought this product and the BRS Bio Pellets and since than my phosphates read zero! I love this thing! Only thing is that my SKIM SMELLS FOUL but i can deal with that!

So long as you use the proper pump to keep the flow at a level that will tumble the bio pellets this is very effective little bio pellet reactor. I run mine with the recommended Mag 5 pump and it run flawlessly. Just purchased a second unit for my new SPS build... Very effective on keeping the nitrates down.

I had a really bad Algae problem in my 75 Gallon reef tank so I purchased the BRS Reactor and Bio Pellets . After 1 week I could see a major reduction in the amount of Algae in my tank. I had to put the reactor in the sum with the Maxi jet pump for the pellets to all move and have no clumped up pellets . My Skimmer has been working hard and it must be emptied every day . The BRS reactor is 1/2 the price of most others and works great .

this product is identical to the other reactor for carbon or ferric oxide with the exception that the internal canister is mechanically designed for biopellets. it is simple to use and setup. I chose this option based on cost over the other reactor styles. I am running 2 units in parallel with a single mag 3 pump with good tumbling of media.

Great reactor. I would recommend the mag pump to keep the flow going. Defiantly have to have patience with bio pellets but so far it is working well at taking care of my nitrates.

My nitrates were at about 25ish and even with weekly water changes I could never get it below 15 for very long. I installed this reactor about 12 days ago and, now my nitrate reads 0.0 wow.. Love it!! Im using the maxi-jet 1200 and the bio pellets are tumbling great. I've got the out of the reactor going directly into the input of my protien skimmer.

Very sturdy construction and comes with hoses, fitting and valve which surprised me for how much it costs. I have 125 ml of media in it with a MJ 1200 pump and valve open all the way, and all the pellets stay well in motion. There are no snags in the canister were pellets can get trapped. Definitely a great value even for a DIY're.

So happy with this reactor. easy set up and tumbles pellets in a rotation with every pellet eventually getting pushed to the top then back around. I highly recommend, bomb proof construction and easy to maintain.
