A short time ago I purchased the BRS dual Medea reactor for GFO,CARBON, BIO, whatever. I have read a lot about this stuff and I will be applying this system to my 16gal nano when I arrive at my next duty station in San Juan, PR. I know it sounds like I am installing a Chevrolet big block engine in a Mini Cooper, but why not give it a shot!

I was running GFO in my BRS Reactor and I was having to change it every two weeks. My Phosphates and nitrates were on the high side for me so started to do research on biopellets and decided to give then a try. Since having them running in the system the levels have dropped greatly. I will update this in about a month or so as to get the full capabilities of this wonderful product.

i added this to my 1 year establishe reef tank.it will cloud the tank for a few days.do not panic.after a little over a month my nitrates went way down and have been at 0 6 months now. only con is they cost alot imo

I bought these to run in my BRS reactor but recently switched over to Chemi-pure elite. Nice product but got nervous looking at forums and people were stating that once you use them, you can't stop. One if the reasons were serious nitrate spikes if you do. I'm not sure if this is false or true. However with reef tanks their is alot of misguiding info on forums. I may take the plunge after my current media depletes.

This is my 1st experience with biopellets and so far so good! I have started these on one of my tanks just to see how it works before I switch everywhere. The cost is great and the kids like watching them

With all of the reviews that I had read on biopellets, they seemed to be hit or miss. I have them running in a two little fishies 550 reactor and removed the two sponge filters. They do fit through the wholes in the red covers but as long as flow is kept under control they can't make it high enough to escape. Since the introduction of the biopellets on Nov, 25th my phosphates have dropped 28% without a water change and nitrates have dropped by 50% with a water change (I forgot to test nitrates after the water change). I did have a slight algae bloom where the water got cloudy for roughly a week after the introduction of the pellets. Other then that one side of the pellets tends to clump and not flow as well as the other. This is more than likely due to the reactor not being built specifically made for biopellets.

These things work great my nitrates are always low and they last a long time! They are kind of expensive but not so bad for how long they last! Would buy again.

Great product for bio-pellets and the price is reasonable compared to some other sources for bio-pellets.

I found soaking the pellets in new salt water for a day or two helps prevent the pellets from wanting to float inside of the reactor.

I must stress: In order to have success with bio-pellets, you must follow the instructions (the BRS videos are helpful), and above all, be patient! Bio-pellets are not a quick fix.

I run these pellets in a NextReef solid media reactor. I plumb the output of the reactor into a tee I installed on the input of my protein skimmer.

I keep the flow relatively slow through my reactor. The only time I ever see signs of the pellets clumping is when I go several months without cleaning the screen in the reactor... when that happens, one side near the bottom does not get stirred so well. However, I'm easily able to maintain a low flow without worrying about clumping issues.

Great product! I like being able to order it from the same place I get my other consumable supplies.

My first experience with biopellets. So far, on my 155 gal system, I'm breaking in the first 200 ml, and I've not had any problems. At the 3 week mark, so need more time to see effects. Going slow as recommended.

I got the 1 Gallon jar for my 90 gallon. After running the reactor for 4 months, I am still on my original first cup. But I have to take it down since it is really doing a great job removing all N03 and P04 that my corals are starting to get pale. The product works but hard to control if you are not testing your water weekly.

I have hade these running for about a week now in a Kent phos reactor a had. The pellets are tumbleing nicely. I haven't had any chemestry changes yet, but it is early. My water does seem to look clearer. Looking forward to the 4-8 week results

im very pleased with this product.
my tank was only 2 months old when i started using biopellets and it has done a great job keeping phosphates and nitrates very low. i haven't had any problems with it or caused any trouble in my tank, and it's super low maintenance. i don't have evidence, but i believe i had helped my tank mature a great deal. long term usage and cost/benefit make sense at this point so ill keep using it.

First off, lets start by saying I set this up about 9 months ago.

I must say, I love this reactor! It is a must have for everyone who wants a simple product that makes a huge difference. I keep getting asked "what did I do to my system" because it looks amazing!

It's very easy to set up, although I must say, don't over fill the reactor, as it will plug the screen.

I love it so much, not only have I convinced multiple friends to purchase it, but I bought the 1 gallon container of bio pellets, as I plan on using this reactor from many years to come.

Also, I mean no disrespect to the GFO reactor, as I've used one for multiple years; however, if your debating between the gfo or bio pellet reactor; I recommend spending the extra money on the bio-pellet reactor, not only does it out perform the GFO reactor, but in the long run you will save money!

Been using these for several months now. While not at zero nitrates, they keep my levels very very low in a tank that I often overfeed. So that is a plus in my book.

Biopellets have truly saved my tank. I had an overly aggressive hair algae problem after a powerhead blew up and killed everything in my tank. The algae grew and grew with no avail. Then I discovered the biopellets and started running them. The algae is no longer there. It died within 4 weeks of installing the biopellets. I will never stop using them.
