Very impressed with this product! It arrived very fast!! I haven't set it up yet but by the looks of the impressive craftsmanship it will be the best skimmer I've purchased to date. I plan on buying another soon for another system. Thanks BRS!!

Good skimmer for the money. Small footprint, started skimming within 24 hours of putting it in my sump. Sounded like a waterfall, but quickly found different types of mods to quiet. Blows a lot of bubbles!

Overall: I would buy again.

Pros:
- Works great! Added this skimmer to a newly setup tank and was producing skimmate within a couple of hours.
- Easy to clean

Cons:
- NOISY. I really couldn't believe how loud this skimmer was due to splashing noises. I've added the DIY mod and can hardly hear it now but am still annoyed that the manufacturer hasn't fixed this design flaw.
- The water height is narrow and required a lot of manipulation to get setup correctly
- It isn't balanced (tips to one side) so was challenging to place on raised platform without falling over.

This things blows the function of a previous ebay skimmer (clone) that
I had out of the water. It produced skimmate in my nano tank within a few hours. I have not had a quality skimmer before and was impressed right away with the solidity of the unit. It is solid and not cheaply made.
I was not impressed that I had to mod the output of the water, not a big deal, went to hardware store and attached PVC to silence the outflow of water. I saw that the manufacturer sells them for like 30bucks, I spent about $4. I was also not packaged the proper length of pipe that attaches to the gate valve. I had to elevate the skimmer and play with the water level (along with my ATO) such that the output of water was not occluded and the collection cup did not overflow. I called BRS and they could not recommend anything for this. Not impressed with the amount of money I spent related to this or the DIY silencer I bout on day one for the gate valve output. The pump did not come with feet and a bottom either. I dont know if I got a repacked or poorly packaged product. The plug for the skimmate output through tubing does not fit properly either, I will not be using the tubing to drain skimmate related to this, not a biggie but once again not what expected for money spent.
Aside from these issues, the pump works well and as mentioned produces big time.
As mentioned, product is not flimsy, well made. comes with instructions that are fairly easy. I have not had a quality skimmer before so it took me a few minutes to figure out how to assemble even with the directions.
The unit includes a silencer for air hose, it works fairly well and was nice to have included.
Overall, despite little detractors, I would order again and would recommend to a friend as well.

I bought it for a custom built sump. It fit great thanks to the measurements on BRS Awesome Skimmer it was pulling nasty stuff out in no time. I did not like hearing the water splash out of the outlet due to the fact they recommend 5.5 to 5.75 inch deep sump . So I put a 90 on it pointed of to the side and its whisper quiet now.

Bought two coralife skimmers in the past year and they keep getting jammed. Poor quality and poor design. Then the lfs recommended reef octopus. I researched and decided to invest in this product. You can tell its high quality material right off the bat. It's been running for a week and I haven't regretted this thing for a second. The crap it pulls out is amazing! The bubble cloud it produces is by far the best I've ever seen. Highly recommend!!!

I have this on a 75g system and it works great. When you open the box you can feel and see the quality. The pump is also a high quality product. I would highly recommend this product on systems <100G.

This skimmer is an extremely good value and well built. Pulls some really good gunk out of my tank. Gate valve makes fine tuning very easy.

This skimmer works awesome. I am very happy with the performance and the value behind this product. I am currently using for my 65gal Column tank, and it removes alot of gunk from the water. It's amazing how much stuff it removes, and how you can barely see the gunk in the water.

put it together and pluged it in less than an hour and it was producing some of the nastest skim ive ever had to smell its way worth the money and a great invertment

Got this skimmer for a 75 gal and it's amazing!

I've been running this skimmer for about 8 months now and for the most part, it's been a very solid skimmer, granted the only one I've ever had experience with. It's very easy to clean out, with the exception of the inside. It is one solid piece of acrylic with only a small opening in the neck. Soaking in vinegar for a could days pretty much does the trick, but would be nice if there was easier access to scrub with a brush.

I recently upgraded to 93 cube from a 29 Bio Cube so this is my first skimmer. It was really easy to set up and started pulling out this nasty looking blackish brown stuff with in hours. Hard to imagine i ran a tank for 2 yrs with out a skimmer. Oh and its silent can't tell that its on.

I bought this for a 60g mixed reef with a 20 gallon sump. It pulls some nasty gunk out. I think it is just slightly underpowered for 80 total gallons so I may have to trade up soon.

Great skimmer. Small foot print so it fits I'm my sump nicely. Very quite and easy to adjust. For the price you simply will not find a better deal.

I have a 30 gal with 15 gal sump. This skimmer is a great value and the smaller size fits into smaller sumps. It has outperformed my other skimmers on similar sized tanks. Buy it.

This is my first true skimmer and it seems to be working pretty well. When I clean the receptacle I get nasty stuff out, which probably means it's doing its job. The check valve is easy to adjust after it has been broken in. Before that it's pretty tough. I would recommend.

I've gone through two protein skimmers before this one in the last year, and this one was skimming better than both others combined in the first week!

This skimmer does a fine job on my 90g. Would buy again.

I just bought one of these and it works better than I thought. I researched skimmers for a few weeks and read great reviews. I was told it takes 3-4 weeks to dial in, but it produced dark foam within minutes. I called Coral Vue and asked a few questions and they where great. Great customer service and product. Also takes about 2-3 minutes to have up and running out of the box and price is very good. This will out perform skimmers that are double to tripple its price. This product is nothing but good and I have been in the hobby for 20 years.

i have this skimmer on my 30 gal with a 15 gal sump. and it works almost to well. when i feed my corals it pulls all the leftovers out in a matter of a few hours.

You will be hard pressed to find a better skimmer for the money. Easy to adjust, very compact footprint, and good seals at vital areas. The only drawback I see is cleaning the bottom of the skimmer. The top to middle is easy. For the cost I have no complaint.

Purchased my Reef Octopus 4 (NWB 110) used. It works great on my 75 gallon with a 25 gallon sump. Pulls out lots of dark liquid with a light bioload in the tank. Great Skimmer.

i had this skimmer in a 20g tall with 10 gallon sump and it work great ,very good quality for the money.

I purchased this skimmer a few months back for my 20 gallon tank with 10 gallon sump. I originally thought it was going to be massive overkill, but after it broke in, this skimmer was pulling out gunk like crazy with no pause! It's definitely a great skimmer, and one of the best in it's price range. The only issue that I encountered was cleaning the skimmer, as the body is one solid piece. This makes it difficult to clean the bubble plate and below. But, that's nothing a good vinegar bath cant fix! All in all, I highly recommend this skimmer.

I have used this skimmer on my 55 gallon tank for several months now ans I love it. Consistently pulls out a nice dark thick cup of slime. Great skimmer, great price.

Skims like a beast until the pump breaks, has a 1 year warranty but since its been more than 30 Days Octopus says I have to ship them the pump at my own cost. Awesome skimmer, horrible pump, horrible customer service.

been using this skimmer in my system for about 4 months now and I must say I'm impressed. It collects a ton of gunk and was very easy to get set up. I do wish it had a bigger collection cup though.

I have been running this Skimmer on my 75g reef tank for 6 months with no problems. Great product.

My first skimmer, but its built very well. very sturdy construction. It took about three days for it to break in, and I don't think that it's very hard to tune. I don't have a heavy bioload, but its easer to tune then the hot water in my shower. Its also quieter then I was expecting, thats a plus. I recommend this skimmer over all others I have seen for its size.
