Outstanding By Aquanut on 4/30/11

I previously owned Marineland Visi-Therm Heater for 1 of 3 of my tanks. I have Marineland Stealth Pro’s for the other 2. I have had limited luck with these heaters. When the Visi-Therm Heater went out, I lost my Philippine Yellow Tang, Swissguard Basslet, and Hi-Fin Goby, I decided it was time to change brands. I read the reviews on different heaters and then turned to BRS and I decided to give the Finnex 150W Heater with Digital Controller a try. I really like this heater. It does an excellent job with a much smaller footprint (~7 ¾” L vs. 13 ½” L) and uses 50 Watts less than the heater it replaced. Purchased on 2/8/2011 and plan on purchasing these as a replacement when the Stealth Pro's burn out.

worked great until I ran it dry By pico on 1/24/11

I have 3 50w and they all worked great with the exception of one which ran dry and stopped heating/leaked. I can't blame the heating element but did think it had an emergency off for those situations - buy but dont run dry.

Good Heater By Jake on 1/12/11

I have this heater in addition to the HPS line. This is by far the better of the two. The external controls allow for easy adjustment without getting wet.
The only change i wish this had was a way to silence the temperature alarm. I routinely use this heater to heat my RO/DI water before using it - if the temp of the water is below 65, there is a constant alarm with no way to turn off. Its not too bad in my garage, but if you have this in your house, you're going to get annoyed quickly.

Nice heater with temperature display By Christiaan on 1/11/11

Have been using on on my system for the last year it is a good heater with a nice temperature display on it. the only problem with it is that I am using a controller to control my temperature and every time the heater gets powered on there is a beep so if you are planning on using this heater with another control I would recommend the one with the analog control.

Excellent Heater! By Kyle on 12/13/10

This heater is wonderful!! Comes with its own temp probe and everything! Digital readout is bright and easy to read. Maintains the tank temp well. Needs a little longer lead out from the heater to the control box but other than that it has been wonderful!

low price works great By Philip on 11/15/10

I bought this to keep the water in my ro storage that same temp as my tank so I wouldnt have to worry about temp shock. This keeps the water at the desired temp. Like others have said...the cables are a little short but it works well for me. No problems with it so far.

I've had this for ~2mths and couldn't ask for anything more. The Digital Temp is off by 2F but it constant so not an big deal. I would like the cables a little longer but thats just nit picking. I will be order more of these to replace aging heaters for the money you won't find a better heater!!!

Economical Heater with Questionable Lifespan By JJ12680 on 10/26/10

I bought four 500 watt Finnex heaters about a year and a half ago. Since then, two have broken (still have power but the switches no longer work). When they were working, they worked great and kept a stable temp (+1/-1). The switch is a little loud, which can be an issue if you don't like hearing a click as it turns on and off.

Conventient digital controller By Robin on 10/2/10

But I wish there was a way to calibrate the digital temp sensor. Also, needs a little more cable between the controller and the heater tube.
